To be upset at her ungratefulness?

My mum had wired up 2 sets of christmas lights and was putting them up and I was taking pictures in the same room. The flash of the camera frightened her first time I took one as with the flash of the camera she thought she was being electrocuted but I continued to take them while she was putting them up and she just had a right go, angrily shouted at me infront of everyone to stop. I'm so embarrassed and upset as about an hour earlier she was really moaning (as she has been for days) about how she's not got a penny to her name except bus fare to work so I gave her £10 out of my £45 per week jobseekers allowance and told her to keep it.

What gets to me is how i'm nice to her, helping her out yet she seems so ungrateful and how she can embarass me like that.

lola, if she had got a fright you should not have carried on doing it in the same room.... she asked you to stop and you didn't.

it was nice of you to give her £10 .

seems like your version of being nice and hers are different

belgo · 02/12/2007 16:14

the people who witnessed her out burst at you probably wer embarassed for you.

VoluptuaGoodshag · 02/12/2007 16:15

Oooh tetchy. Did she ask you to stop after the first flash? Did she scream in fright? If yes to either or both of these questions then yes YABU

belgo · 02/12/2007 16:15

but why would she be scared of a camara flash?

LolaTheShowgirl · 02/12/2007 16:18

because she's a flaming attention seeker belgo. No, she didn't scream out in fright, was just a bit shocked but even laughed.

it does sound like she over reacted. But admittadly, if she asked you to stop taking photos, then you should have stopped.

belgo · 02/12/2007 16:21

I can understand why you were upset by it as well.

Bless, she just came and apologised and looked really upset. Thanks Belgo, it's nice to know i'm not overreacting!
