To think it is impossible to get socks to stay on a newborn (recommendations pls!)?

Hello

Just that: I would love recommendations for socks or booties that will stay on my two week old’s feet. He kicks socks off with ease and then cries that he has cold feet, which he hates. This happens constantly through the day.

Help pls!

Gap socks were the ones that stayed on when mine were little

SamMil · 30/08/2021 07:33

I'm guessing OP means 35 degrees Fahrenheit.

Audreyhelp · 30/08/2021 07:36

I work as a nanny I think gap socks are the best . Sock ons are very fiddly and an extra layer which you don’t need.

oblada · 30/08/2021 07:41

Socks aren't they that needed. My 1yrs old rarely wears them when she is in the baby carrier etc as she pulls them off
I second the baby grow whenever feet need to be covered. Much less of a faff. Never saw the point in booties personally.

Justgettingbye · 30/08/2021 07:42

Sleepsuits!

TheRabbitStoleMyHat · 30/08/2021 07:54

Do you mean 35°F? As otherwise he really doesn’t need socks!

At 2 weeks old I think mine were just in babygros.

wigglerose · 30/08/2021 08:42

Pull socks over the bottoms of the trousers.

sashh · 30/08/2021 08:44

35F is about 2C . Maybe the OP is in the USA

Thetepidstepper · 30/08/2021 08:50

Maybe she means Fahrenheit

Thetepidstepper · 30/08/2021 08:53

Oh look, it's a page I didn't read previously where every single person is saying the same thing I've just said.

NCkitchen · 30/08/2021 08:54

Best baby socks. They really do stay on

Babygros. With a nice cardigan over the top if you want the fun of dressing your baby up.
Surely much more comfy for tiny tummies than trousers or leggings with an elastic waist? And no sock problem.

MrsJuliaGulia · 30/08/2021 09:02

Oh I remember sock ons. Sigh. Fabulous invention.

THATmamaofMANY · 30/08/2021 09:05

We have the next ones in first size for our 8 week old and they stay on, my tip would be buy smaller than you think they need

THATmamaofMANY · 30/08/2021 09:06

I will add baby is usually in a sleepsuit but if warmer a short romper which i may then add socks if it gets cooler or we go out etc

tshirtsuntan · 30/08/2021 09:09

The gap roll top ones were the only socks to stay on my babies.

DrinkFeckArseBrick · 30/08/2021 09:10

I found some soft trousers (they were like leggings but baggier) from Tesco once with integrated feet. So like trouser tights. My eldest chose them as a 'present' for the baby as they were really cute (bunny ears on the feet) but they were one of the most useful things we bought. Like the bottom of a sleep suit but much easier for changing nappies

I used the converse sock booties.

HeronLanyon · 30/08/2021 09:14

Surely op is in old money Fahrenheit ? Somewhere Southern Hemisphere/polar/mountainous ?

MilkywayMonarch22 · 30/08/2021 09:28

Baby grows with mittens and socks already on them are perfect for young babies - I loved them on mine up to like 6/9 months. So easy and NEXT and HandM have some gorgeous ones.

serialname · 30/08/2021 09:34

This is why babygrows are such a good idea

Confusedandshaken · 30/08/2021 09:38

@RampantIvy

Why does he need socks if it is 35 degrees?

I kept DD in babygros at that age if it wasn't hot.

I'm in London and it's currently 18 degrees and doesn't look like it's going to get much warmer. I'm wearing socks.
Audreyhelp · 30/08/2021 10:18

I think the mum knows if her baby needs socks or not .

MrsMonkeyBear · 30/08/2021 11:13

@RandomCatGenerator

Right - sock ons it is! Shall invest.

Any bootie recommendations also very appreciated.

If you are using sock ons try mocc ons for booties. My 2 lived in theirs from birth to about 18 months.
