More US troops killed today than over the last 4 years . Pulling put has cost more deaths of US troops than staying there.
Afghans now being slaughtered.
Massive fail from Biden following Trumps pull out.

Very, very 😔

With the WHO warning of food running out in Afghanistan and an imminent humanitarian disaster, we should not be removing cats and dogs. They are always needed for food when people are starving.

You must be a troll, that’s a vile comment, you are disgusting.

What PP said wasn't disgusting lmao. Animals being eaten? Oh the horror!

I get that people love pets but come on. A troll for a comment about eating animals? Humans are dying and desperate. I'd unfortunately eat my pet if it came to that, and people do.

leonpride · 29/08/2021 12:57

That’s a nasty comment you’ve made , , British people generally have good sense of injustice and fairness. It’s not wacky to care

Killing a human to save a rabbit is not normal @Rhannion

It some thing to give your OWN life for animal but to devalue someone else's is abhorrent. Would you be ok with someone sacrificing your loved ones life for animal? I mean, they don't know your loved one after all so why'd they care?

Such views should really be kept private unless some is willing to be challenged.

WanderingFruitWonderer · 29/08/2021 13:10

I hope the inadequacy of the politicians involved in this, in all the countries, is lead bare when the full version is told, however there is that saying that a lie goes around the world before the truth has go its shoes on...

Yes, I agree. I reckon the truth will come out eventually. You know what they say 'your sins will always find you out' But, I think it'll sadly take quite some time.

anonymousobserver · 29/08/2021 13:12

No one has sacrificed anyone’s life for an animal. What a load of hysterical nonsense.

Pen Farthing got out with 72 hours to go. Plenty of time for Ben Wallace to get more flights in and out of there, but he chose not to.

God knows why there are so many British nationals in Kabul anyway. It’s disingenuous to pretend that these are not people who have obtained British passports by claiming asylum, and then gone back on holiday.

And the Taliban don’t go around killing everyone - that’s madness. Much of Afghanistan has been under Taliban rule for the past 20 years anyway.

I’d like to see some news that isn’t just hysteria and propaganda.

lannistunut · 29/08/2021 13:15

@simitra

When I hear the hand wringing about how approximately 1000 Afghans who had the required documentation were left behind I blame the thousands of randoms who clogged the airport and prevented the genuine cases from getting into the queue. Bofore blaming the British government or the military for abandoning them they should place the blame where it justly belongs.
Sorry? You blame desperate people who were also trying to flee the country? Rather than holding the government responsible for having done no prep for this situation?

Well judging from Twitter, editorials and opinion polling, that's a very niche view.

Knew someone when I was a child who had been in a concentration camp. He said they caught the Commandants cat and had it for dinner. He said it tasted all the nicer because they knew it would upset the Commandant.

I can't find it in me to condemn him, a young man close to death, maybe that bit of meat was the thing that got him through.

HarrietPierce · 29/08/2021 13:21

Pen Farthing is being smeared & undermined by the Political Advisor to Ben Wallace and Ministers in MoD who are trying to distract from huge failures in the Afghanistan withdrawal.
Meanwhile, Johnson and Raab joked about desperate pleas from Afghans. 5,000 urgent emails went unopened. Helpline calls redirected. RAF flights left with empty seats due to a lack of processed refugees.

sadperson16 · 29/08/2021 13:21

Best thing we can all do,is drop this stupid discussion and give to a charity. There are the well known ones or smaller ones
If anybody wants to message me,I can direct you to a tiny one on the NW which gives your donation directly and quickly to the right people.

Personal attacks achieve nothing - you may not like an unpalatable truth but that pp was right. When people are starving they will eat anything.

Even other people.
anonymousobserver · 29/08/2021 13:47

As for the idiot Tom Tugendhat complaining that the animals were rescued when his interpreter’s five year old wasn’t - well, the only people with the power to do anything about that are the government, of which he is one of them.

If Tugendhat wanted to rescue his interpreter’s five year old, I’m sure he could find a way to do it. He’s in a better position to find a way than 99.9% of the world, including Pen Farthing.

I’m glad Farthing succeeded, and I hope the American animal rescue get their animals out as well. It’s a shame they are at the mercy of decision makers like Tugendhat, who from what I can see are all talk and no action.

Absolutely agree
Billandben444 · 29/08/2021 14:00

IMO we should have concentrated on evacuating only those with British passports and Afghans who were collaborators and feared persecution. If after 20 years our interference has done nothing for the stability of the country then it's right that we should walk away - it's a tribal country and we have no right to try and impose Western cultures and beliefs on them. The world is full of pockets of shit but we don't need to keep stirring it.

@anonymousobserver. I have something for you that isn't hysteria, propaganda, or smear campaign: The NOWZAD animals have been checked over by a vet, and are healthy, so safe. Source (vet who examined them): twitter.com/IainTime/status/1431961743664766977

@Guavaf1sh

Depends what constitutes British feeling. If it’s the likes of chaosrabbitland then yes I stand by what I say. Animals over people. Horrible. If it’s the more sensible posters here such as ancientgran then I am wrong.

So SOME people here are whacky and disguising

i do prefer animals over people and they have an equal right to be saved , i did say the comment and i also explained why i feel the way i do , if you want to slap a label on me as whacky or digusting thats upto you , i really dont care , it doesnt bother me in the slightest what other peoples opinions are , i never said i lacked empathy though and that i didnt care what was happening in aghanistan , but its amazing how people like you seize on the one comment and disregard anything else though i may have said though, its let just focus on that instead , suits your judgemental agenda i guess

Agreed. Tugendhat appears to be experiencing cognitive dissonance. It's his party letting his interpreter down, no one else. If he's as disgusted as he claims to be, he should cross the floor.

Charlotte (the American rescue lady) has a plane going out there to help her and her animals. Let's hope she doesn't end up subject to a similar smear campaign to the one Farthing is subject to.

WanderingFruitWonderer · 29/08/2021 14:45

@Doodlebug71 thank you so much for sharing that. I hadn't heard yet. That's really wonderful news. In the midst of all the other very sad news...

chaosrabbitland · 29/08/2021 14:47

@HarrietPierce

A good man, who desperately tried to get his workforce out, but was let down by Government agencies, both UK and US will have his name smeared and scapegoated as a distraction for Government failures.
exactly , domimic raab , refused to come of his holiday when ordered , didnt make a single phone call that he could have done which if the news is to be believed could have cost upto 9 thousand afghans who would have been eligible to come here being stuck still instead , i can well believe its true , he hasnt even got the honour to resign and johnson wont force him ,he didnt even do that with hancock

and yet for some on here the focus is still on pen farthing and what a disgrace it is he got his animals over and how much it cost the lives of afghans and blah blah blah ,

KeflavikAirport · 29/08/2021 15:07

Many of the dogs will be reunited with ex servicemen, which was part of the charity's purpose

Really? How many? Given UK combat forces left in 2014, how many of them knew dogs still in the rescue centre? Or are they largely street dogs? And what about the cats, will they be reunited with ex servicemen too? I mean I might be wrong but it all sounds like emotional heartstring-tugging to me.

KeflavikAirport · 29/08/2021 15:12

It’s disingenuous to pretend that these are not people who have obtained British passports by claiming asylum, and then gone back on holiday.

And? Are you suggesting that they are somehow less British because of it?

@ snowballer Wow.

This is one of the worst takes I've seen so far.

No, just a different opinion from someone who thinks a bit outside the box from the folks on farcebook and twatter

anonymousobserver · 29/08/2021 15:31

@KeflavikAirport - Not at all, but it’s quite clear that their urgent need for asylum was questionable to say the least.
