to want the postman to deliver parcels to MY door?

and not the communal front door downstairs?

i just feel totally uncomfortable leaving my sleeping toddler alone in our flat so i can go down to the communal front door of our block to collect parcels from the postman. maybe i'm being over cautious, but i just doesn't feel right, somehow.

royal mail policy is to leave the parcel, or hand it over at the 'point of delivery' ie where the letterbox is. and as our letterboxes are outside the building, it means they won't come up to deliver things that won't fit in. maybe i am being unreasonable, as we are only on the first floor and she's not really that far away. I suppose i could lock her in just to be on the safe side?

If you lived close to the sorting office you could maybe arrange to pick it up there?

Or have a word with the sorting office and find out if they will deliver to your door.

thanks, the sorting office is a bit of a trek, as i don't drive, and stubborn thing that i am, i feel a bit like 'well this defeats the object of mail order'. i'll try and see if they'll deliver it agian.. ho hum

Oh we have the same thing - in a flat in a house. Do you have buzzer entry cos if I don't need to sign for it then I usually buzz the postman in and he leaves it downstairs? I somemtimes nip down with her (if awake) but would prob leave her asleep for 1 minute, don't like doing it, although ours is only the top floor of a house. It sort of depends how your flats are arranged and how well you know your neighbours etc I think.

Anyway, if it is like my old flat (in a block) then YANBU - they should come and deliver to your door!

yep it's in a block, our neighbours are pretty lovely on the whole, so maybe i'm worrying about nothing? it's just that remote possibility that someone who doesn't live there could be in the building.

when it happened today i did ask the postman to leave it downstairs, and buzzed him in a couple of times but i don't think he understood what i was saying so instead he left a card. grrr!
