To never have biscuits in the house?

Me and my OH don't like biscuits so never buy them. So no-one is offered a biscuit when they come round.

@ballsdeep

I'm sorry I can't get past the "not like biscuits!" How?! There are so many! A cheeky kit kat, a sugary nice, a milky cow biscuit, a chunky cookie, even a sickly pink wafer!!! Is it to keep guests out?!?
So many, and so far, all appear to be absolutely revolting.

I don't like chocolate, either. Can't do cows' dairy and I'm waiting for yet another blood test to come back either confirming or denying the suspicion that Gluten is also a dietary no-no.

I like mochi. That's my concession to sweet things. Other stuff? Meh at best, Bleurghhhhhh the majority of the time.

SilverOtter · 22/08/2021 19:38

I don't have biscuits. I don't have visitors either😂

KindnessMyFriends · 22/08/2021 19:41

Kit Kat is a chocolate bar. Flapjack is a cake. A biscuit is a digestive. Or a bourbon. Or a custard cream. Excuse me, just nipping to the kitchen for some kitchen towel to mop up the dribble. And a hunt for Kit Kats damn it!

Coffeemakesmehappy · 22/08/2021 19:43

Have solved this by getting Lotus Biscoff snack packs - 18 packs of 2 individually wrapped. I’m not that keen and don’t tend to raid them, so they stay fresh and are there for anyone who pops in. My dad complains a lot if there are no biscuits.

CMOTDibbler · 22/08/2021 19:43

The only biscuits we have are digestives for the chickens. I'm gluten free, dh is on a diet, and ds is generally unworried by biscuits. Actually, I tell a lie, I got him a multipack of mini party rings after he enjoyed them as a favour at a wedding a few weeks ago but they are still in the cupboard.
No one pops in, in fact we very rarely have visitors so I would get something in if they were expected

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 22/08/2021 20:12

We always keep a bag of grass cuttings to offer around to guests should all the biscuits have been scoffed during the prior evening.
Could you do something like this? (It's very cheap.)

StarryStarrySocks · 22/08/2021 20:18

I'm glad I'm not friends with any of you non-biscuit buyers! Wink My biscuit tin is always well-stocked for visitors, tradespeople and most importantly, me.

skippy67 · 22/08/2021 20:40

I don't drink tea or coffee, but always have them in the house for visitors.

TroysMammy · 22/08/2021 20:47

I don't buy biscuits and definitely since I've been with my DP . He's Type 2 diabetic and hasn't got any will power at all.

Years ago my friend visited with her little boy who had developed a habit of dipping a biscuit in her tea and eating it. I made her tea and gave her a slice of cake. Her little boy whispered to her and she said "Troys doesn't buy biscuits".

Next time they visited she fished out a tupperware box out of her bag which contained 2 Rich Tea biscuits so he could dip them in her tea Grin

DustyMaiden · 22/08/2021 20:49

I don’t buy biscuits, we don’t have biscuits. When I did buy them we still never had any. DH eats them all. I save £12 each week.

Angel2702 · 22/08/2021 20:50

We rarely have them in the house as standard either. We don’t have teabags either, have to buy them for guests.

StillWeRise · 22/08/2021 20:55

@Singinghollybob

But my reason is because I love them and can't just stop at a couple so we don't have anything nice in the house as I don't have much self control
pretty much my position also Grin same goes for crisps but I do allow those in moderation
DysmalRadius · 22/08/2021 20:56

nothing better than sicking tea through a twix.

Enough to put you off biscuits and tea!!!

ballsdeep · 22/08/2021 20:59

@Sparklesocks

I am still shocked. I had to go and have a Chocolate digestive to get me going again!

StillWeRise · 22/08/2021 21:15

programme on C4 tonight about the secret world of biscuits

OldTinHat · 22/08/2021 21:18

I never have biscuits in the house either. I think the crux of the matter is to ask if you have milk? I never have milk or biscuits so people are often disappointed. If you have milk but no biscuits then I think that is very reasonable!

That sounds like a theme park
Frazzled2207 · 22/08/2021 21:20

Wow. Do you not find it necessary to dunk a digestive (or similar) in your cuppa?

I mean not necessarily everytime but never??!!

Nosferatussidebit · 22/08/2021 21:21

@BlackInk

I think it's polite and welcoming to have something to offer to anyone who pops in for a cup of tea or coffee. Do you offer something instead of biscuits?
I could offer fruit or frozen veg. DH and I don't snack so never have biscuits or cake in the house, and I wouldn't keep something we don't eat just for it to go out of date!
frecklesandsmiles · 22/08/2021 21:21

No biscuits in my house either, we would just eat them all and have no will power.

RampantIvy · 22/08/2021 21:23

@Singinghollybob

No, we never have biscuits or cake in either. We'd get some in we were expecting somebody but wouldn't have an to offer any guests turning up unannounced
Same here. If we kept cake/biscuits in the house I would eat them and be the size of a house
Daphnise · 22/08/2021 21:24

For callers to your residence, the offer of a glass of tap water is quite sufficient.

In addition to biscuits, why not go a little further, keep no sugar, flour, salt, butter, bread, cheese, alcohol, milk, meat, rice, pasta or fish.

Such a fun life!

NorthernDramaLlama · 22/08/2021 21:25

I'm gluten free, so keep an emergency packet of 'normal' bourbons for unexpected guests. Arranged guests get something home made I can enjoy too. CFs who just pop in have to make to with supermarket own brand cheap biccies.

Where can I get tickets?!

Nat6999 · 23/08/2021 02:41

I never have biscuits in either due to working in a biscuit factory as a teenager. When you have spent all day watching the fillings going in custard creams & bourbons they soon lose their appeal. We used to produce over 100k of each a day, they are on my don't buy list along with pork pies, I could never eat a pork pie again after seeing what goes in them (snouts, heads, trotters & anything else they could stop going in the dog meat)
