How many user names have you had?

I just looked at my user name history and it’s long. Very long! Let’s just say I am a bit paranoid about being identified.
How many have you had?

One in 11 years. Except for a very brief n/c just after Jeffrey which lasted about two minutes.

I recognize Sparkling for many years of posting 💕. I have changed my names loads , I feel too controversial to keep the same name , I’m vv tame nowadays . Happy to like / love / comment 💖

Three names in about 10 years. Had to change a couple of times because DD decided to MN for a bit in her early teens and found me!

4 in about five or six years

• the first was a bit identifying if anyone on here knew me
• a lockdown name
• this one
• one that I dive into occasionally for anonymity

Just this 1 but this is a new-ish account. I gave up mumsnet as I was getting a bit addicted to it. But now I’m back (couldn’t remember my old log in or old email address)

I've been here about 13 years, though not all on this account, I had another one before but forgot the password.

I name change pretty much every time after I post something outing or very personal.

Several but I've been on here about 18 years. My first one is a nickname actually given to me by some pals IRL and very outing but such a great name that it was even mentioned in one of the Mumsnet books years ago. I sometimes still revert to it just to feel ancient and wise

Ahh, this thread is reassuring!! I am always changing my name when I want advice on something - not sure how many names I have had over the years but it’s quite a few!!

About 30, maybe 40. For the time being!
Been here since 2002, but didn't post for a while then couldn't get back into my original account, as didn't have pw or email anymore.
This one been a few years, and I have about 30 or 40. It depends on my mood which one I use. I can't seem to find one that fits just right.

Another one for Arts and Crafts and one NC I used for advice about a VERY personal issue.

Oh yes. One Christmas NC as well!

I've been here for ten years and I have 40 names in my account. I use this one most of the time as I only ever rabbit on about inconsequential stuff.

I have some names I've only used once, a few I used that just didn't feel right, one or two I made a twit of myself posting under and a couple that I haven't yet used as I'm saving them for an appropriate occasion.

Ha Same here, on all points, except this one's not my usual one.

One time I was in a cranky mood and wrote cranky post, and then felt terrible about it, so don't want to use that name anymore - even though it's a pretty good name.

I also have several that I haven't used yet.

Four or five. I'm not bothered about covering my tracks, I just change when I get bored and think of something new.

I preferred my old name so much and did this one in a hurry. I want to change it, but I don't really like all this name changing that goes on and like to stand by my posting history - the good and the bad. My husband came up with an excellent alternative a couple of weeks ago and I'm so tempted. Perhaps I need a byline which says "previous known as".

I'd gone through only 2 or 3 up until that security breach in 2015 (I think it was) and I left and re-registered. I've had another 6 or 7 since then, plus some emergency ones for asking outing/embarrassing questions. I did prefer life on MN when there were fewer name changes. So many other sites don't allow you to do it at all!

Well there's nothing to "keep up" with. You go into your settings, change it and then just go back to posting. Nothing logistically difficult.

On my fourth name in 12 years.

Had this one for a while, but I had to re-register and lost my favourite name. I think I'm on my fourth name.

I agree. I think I'm better just sticking with the one, can't accidentally sockpuppet or anything Although sticking with the one brings it's own problems TBF, some don't like it.
