I just looked at my user name history and it’s long. Very long! Let’s just say I am a bit paranoid about being identified.
How many have you had?

65. Not as many as I thought. Most of them are either seasonal or thread specific.

I count 4 actual ongoing names and I've had this one for about 5 years now.

I've been here for ten years and I have 40 names in my account. I use this one most of the time as I only ever rabbit on about inconsequential stuff.

I have some names I've only used once, a few I used that just didn't feel right, one or two I made a twit of myself posting under and a couple that I haven't yet used as I'm saving them for an appropriate occasion.

12, I've been here almost a decade and in the past 4 years have gotten involved in the Christmas and Halloween name change threads, so those cause a change.

I think I've had this one for about 2 years though (bar changing it for the above mentioned)

About 5 on this account, since 2 years ago (I had a previous account for a few years that I deleted because it was linked to an email account I had to get rid of). I only ever have one in regular use... Probably due a change, actually!

I went to have a look recently. I've been here about 3 or so years and there must be a good 40 or more usernames in my list. I post stuff that could piss people off if they know who I am so my advanced search won't turn up much to suspicious people looking for confirmation it's me.

56 if I have counted correctly. Some are one-offs to post something outing. Some are one-offs to post something outing that have never been used because I thought better of posting it. And there are some seasonal ones and joke ones ...

I get more attached to some than others, but I don't like keeping the same one for too long in case I am recognised, so some have been very reluctantly abandoned.

I sometimes think I should re-use an old one but it never feels quite right to go back.

Dozens probably. I namechange every couple of months, but I do use a couple of regular ones on niche boards, one of which is the name I joined with.

Been here about 12 years and probably have had about as many usernames. Really like this one, but starting to think it’ll soon be time to change.

2 names over 10 years. Can't remember my original one or why I changed?! I've used this one for several years. I never post or comment anything controversial or outing so happy to stay as I am.

Loads (maybe 12 or 15). I change whenever I feel I've become over familiar.

I have loads. I don't even know who I am anymore. This name is meant to be for general things. But I some times slip into saying things that are sensitive to me. Sometime I post about a situation and there might be a change in that situation then I cant remember what name I posted under and end up posting under, what ever name I pick out. I have no idea what I'm doing . I'm kind of hoping if I can't track me maybe others cant

I've changed sometimes if I've felt an interaction has become unpleasant. I don't really like the idea of something following me around.

There was a poster who was quite cutting to me on a thread - nothing unreasonable, just a difference of opinion, but sharply expressed. I name changed after that. A little while after, the same poster was asking for practical advice on something. I responded with a suggestion under my changed name and the poster thanked me pleasantly, and it made me feel much better about the earlier disagreement (completely irrational, I know).
