Bit of TAAT but after reading the movies that make you cry thread, I thought about getting a list together of movies that make you actually laugh out loud.

I watched Booksmart for the first time the other day and that had some good moments in. I would reccomend for a light giggle!

The funniest film I've ever seen is a Mel Brooks one called Start the Revolution Without Me. Gene Wilder and Donald Sutherland as two sets of identical twins who get swapped at birth during the french revolution, so there are two sets of Donald/Gene twins on opposing sides of the revolution. I don't remember huge amounts about the plot, but I remember utter nonsense and stupidity in a Blazing Saddles/Young Frankenstein style, only sillier. Those two are also hilarious, but STRWM beats them for me, and I can't understand why it's not as famous.

Anchorman and Monty Python and the Holy grail never fail for me

MyCatEatsPrawnCrackers · 21/08/2021 19:52

@LagunaBubbles

Can't beat Liar Liar!
Agreed! Jim Carrey is a genius.

I reluctantly went to see 'Mr Bean's Holiday' at the cinema as my young niece wanted to see it and ended up crying with laughter and loving it.
I also think Hugh Grant is hilarious in Paddington 2.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. The scene of Michael Caine trying to show Steve Martin how to act suave has me crying with laughter.

Love Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein, especially for Madeline Kahn who is also superb in Blazing Saddles

Porkies!! So bloody old but the lassie scene and the shower scene with the big PE mistress OMG😂😂😂😂😂

CoodleMoodle · 21/08/2021 20:50

Rat Race. It's not even slightly intelligent but I could watch it a million times and still laugh.

Anything with John Candy, but especially Uncle Buck. And Cool Runnings.

Hot Fuzz. Shaun of the Dead & The World's End as well, but HF is the best.

Clueless, Mean Girls, Legally Blonde. All brilliant and very funny.

480Widdio · 21/08/2021 20:51

Anchorman.

The Hangover.

Due Date.
