Got the bus into town with K, T, L & A Headed to HMV and got my favourite cd. Tried on clothes in River island and Topshop, nothing looked good, the shiny skirt and fluffy top looked amazing on T and she knew it!
Pinched lip liners from Body shop, sprayed some White musk and managed to get out without anyone noticing.
Ate two Boosts and Pickled onion monster munch on the bus home, felt gross, will never be thin now.
Ate Spag Bol for tea and watched 90210 then Blind date.
Met everyone down the passage, pissed on Strongbow super, K robbed 5 embassy off her mum.
Got tickets for Bowlers next week, sooooo excited, hope F goes, I’m wearing my Kangol trainers or Gazelles and a crop top.

Early to mid 90s.

@Neverendinggapyear, I'd buy it but I love Manchester. Lovely to hear you're nostalgic for it. It doesn't matter where or how far you travel, there's no place like home! And those memories- wow, treasure them. I have lots too. And yes, the burgers from Wimpy were so much nicer than macdonalds. I tried to recreate a coke float recently! I was not successful.

lottiegarbanzo · 21/08/2021 17:50

@BloodyTinaNextdoorAgain Yes, I'm sure you're right.

They were massive in 1995 (Wonderwall was every fourth to sixth song in my SU bar, literally!) Known in Manc and in the music press from 1993, at least, probably earlier.

Neverendinggapyear · 21/08/2021 17:55

@Amdone123 It’s sort of in your soul, I think.
My life is the complete opposite of Manchester now..I even miss the rain, it’s just a different type of rain 🙈🤣

@Neverendinggapyear I was torn between Bramhall and Heston Moor but I decided it was more Bramhall. Bet you shopped at C&A in Merseyway too and your mum dragged you across to M&S and you moaned

iamruth · 21/08/2021 17:59

*Heaton Moor

Neverendinggapyear · 21/08/2021 18:03

@iamruth 😲😆
Freakily accurate. Were you nearby?
Definitely more Bramhall for the youths hanging around I think, I don’t remember Heaton Moor being like that, although I imagine most affluent suburbs were secretly similar perhaps.

@Neverendinggapyear I think as she is now uber professional she regrets the drugs and the awful Sunday come downs.

I on the other hand was on the indie floor at Stockport SU drinking bottles of K cider - much more reponsible!

I'd have said Offerton or Marple....

Neverendinggapyear · 21/08/2021 18:12

@TheyAreMinerals Is that what you thought? 🙈

OP posts:
actiongirl1978 · 21/08/2021 18:13

It does sound like a lot of us had a very similar Stockport experiences growing up.

Woolies pick n mix anyone?

Neverendinggapyear · 21/08/2021 18:13

@actiongirl1978 !! I was there too, loved my indie and my house, loved all music..what year? I was there 94-96

Why Offerton or Marple? Bit rougher 🤣

Neverendinggapyear · 21/08/2021 18:19

Neverendinggapyear · 21/08/2021 18:21

@DIanaRiggFan I have pages and pages full from 13…those extracts are very silly though, the mid teens was a whirlwind though, amazing times! Are you the same age/area?

‘Took half a strawberry double dip tonight, felt so paranoid, I was frantically brushing my teeth afterwards, trying to stop it working, A said if you do that, the effects aren’t as strong.

I had to walk past mum planting flowers in the front garden, so sunny and with that freshly cut grass smell, reminded me of being a kid. Felt so guilty and worried she could tell I'd taken it. Everyone was exaggerating and acting like dicks, saying everyone’s eyes were huge and teeth too, I didn’t really feel much, just wanted it to be over. Weed, whizz and E’s I like, this, not my thing.
Crept back in, but got called in by mum and dad, who were watching weird shit on the Eurovision contest, just wanted to get upstairs! Sister was asking why I looked strange.
So relieved to wake up back to normal in the morning, it felt summery, felt really happy’
