Got the bus into town with K, T, L & A Headed to HMV and got my favourite cd. Tried on clothes in River island and Topshop, nothing looked good, the shiny skirt and fluffy top looked amazing on T and she knew it!
Pinched lip liners from Body shop, sprayed some White musk and managed to get out without anyone noticing.
Ate two Boosts and Pickled onion monster munch on the bus home, felt gross, will never be thin now.
Ate Spag Bol for tea and watched 90210 then Blind date.
Met everyone down the passage, pissed on Strongbow super, K robbed 5 embassy off her mum.
Got tickets for Bowlers next week, sooooo excited, hope F goes, I’m wearing my Kangol trainers or Gazelles and a crop top.

I remember every incident in here.

Laughing my arse off here, OP. I haven't read everything but I'm guessing the North West (Liverpool/Warrington/Manchester area and 94/95. I thing I'm about or 9 years older than you but had cousins about your age around there.

actiongirl1978 · 21/08/2021 18:45

@Neverendinggapyear nope, a much posher area than Bramhall Grin

TheyAreMinerals · 21/08/2021 18:48

@Neverendinggapyear

"Skinning up" with a boy

"Bush"

No, definitely not dirty! 🤪

MrsJuliaGulia · 21/08/2021 18:48

@Neverendinggapyear I’m only from across the pond so it wasn’t that different on one hand, but on the other, it was a world away and we were quite sheltered, and you’d always be worried about being seen by someone who knew your mum. Because everyone knew everyone. And the parish priest was in everyone’s business.

shesellsseacats · 21/08/2021 18:51
@shesellsseacats 😅it’s a five year diary from 13-18, albeit the majority not filled in, but a few of the years have a lot of entries
If you published it in a blog, starting at the beginning, I'd read it, even with massive gaps!

You're about the same age as me and up to similar stuff. It'd be a brilliant trip down memory lane.

Neverendinggapyear · 21/08/2021 18:51

‘Stayed over at T’s, her mum wasn’t there, her Auntie N was looking after her, her snark went off so fucking early, no way am I doing that when I’m older, having to get up and go to work.
We were practising skinning up so the joint is really tight, mine’s always really shit, but T skins up so well. We looked down and realised the book we were skinning up on was her children’s bible! We laughed so much, but then felt so bad about it

@actiongirl1978 Ahhhh…Alderley Edge?!

Sounds like 2002 or 2003 to me.

RedToothBrush · 21/08/2021 18:54

I had a flat mate in my first year at uni who always went on about Bowlers. She lived in a posh part of Cheshire if i recall correctly.

Shannith · 21/08/2021 18:58

1990-91 Were you my friend. And lived in Harlow? Grin

InFiveMins · 21/08/2021 18:58

Just seen you revealed the year as 1994 so I was way out! But similar to my teenage diaries from 2002/2003 so things mustn't have been too different!

EverythingsComingUpRoses · 21/08/2021 18:59

@Neverendinggapyear

Bringing it down a little bit -don't suppose you have a diary entry from when the Arndale got bombed?

I'm the same age as you and I can remember amongst my friends the feeling was very much 'they can't get us down' well that's what we told each other anyway and we had a night out at the hacienda a couple of days after

actiongirl1978 · 21/08/2021 19:05

Ah no, not THAT posh!

Neverendinggapyear · 21/08/2021 19:07

‘Amazing night, went to The Boardwalk, I wore my sort tartan type skirt, black body and trainers. Walked in just as we were coming up, amazing tunes, danced all night, bit shit later on as K went on a whitey and had to lie down in the chill out room bit. Kept saying she wanted to go home, but none of us did, felt so shit for her, but also it was such a good night! We left early with her

Neverendinggapyear · 21/08/2021 19:09

@actiongirl1978 😁But much posher than Bramhall, but not ‘That’ posh 🤷🏻‍♀️I would say Cheadle Hulme was okay, Hale, but the only one much posher was the gorgeous Alderley Edge..:I really thought I may have known you, if you’d said you went to the private girls school there

OP posts:
CatkinToadflax · 21/08/2021 19:10

I’m a year older than you OP. Reading this makes me realise just how boring and straight laced I was! (Still am, to be fair…. Blush )

Neverendinggapyear · 21/08/2021 19:10

@EverythingsComingUpRoses I don’t think I do 😬 I do remember being at home that day and could’ve easily been there shopping that day instead.

OP posts:
Neverendinggapyear · 21/08/2021 19:13

@EverythingsComingUpRoses I only got to go to the Hacienda a couple of times, then it shut down, gutted! I often think if I’d been born just three years earlier I would’ve been at the very best age. I was 12/13 when The stone roses were big and all the illegal raves were around, just missed it, being on the very cusp of it all

OP posts:
Neverendinggapyear · 21/08/2021 19:13

@CatkinToadflax No, we were really quite bad for a few years, god was so much fun though

OP posts:
actiongirl1978 · 21/08/2021 19:15

@Neverendinggapyear no, a comprehensive in Stockport. So a nice area of Stockport iyswim Wink

VioletCharlotte · 21/08/2021 19:17

This is so funny and brings back lots of memories. I'm 45, not from Manchester, but much of this is very relatable! I was at uni in 1994, I too had a fluffy too with a shiny skirt!

Neverendinggapyear · 21/08/2021 19:17

@actiongirl1978 But nicer than Bramhall but not Alderley edge? 🤷🏻‍♀️Ahh…Poynton? Wilmslow? It’s debatable though as I’d say Bramhall, but I’m biased!

OP posts:
capricorn12 · 21/08/2021 19:18

Manchester 1992 or 1993. Bowlers is a giveaway if you're a Manc and shiny/fluffy tops makes me think of Bjork. K cider featured heavily in my drinking around that time too.
