I would assume the article is a hyperbole riddled mockery of what actually happened, and for that reason I feel that the woman is being unfairly lambasted. As a fellow mother, I sympathise with her.
I mean, we don't know for sure... But I'd guess her children were acting up, and she was trying to riot control them in the middle of a busy store. A situation that most of us will find very, very familiar! Meanwhile the checkout kept going, shopping was piling up... She asked them to wait for a moment, and was given a condescending "No-can-do, Love".
Stressful? Absolutely. Upsetting? Probably. Newsworthy? Not really.
But it's unlikely she actually went crying to the media. Later on, I'd bet she posted on social media. Saying something as innocuous as "Stressful situation at the checkout today, felt a bit upset. The staff could be more understanding," and tagging Aldi.
No reply from Aldi, but the tabloid media sniffer dogs found it. "How upsetting," they agree. "We'll raise this with Aldi too," they promise. "Do we have your permission to use the details?"
Suddenly she's the "TRAUMATISED mother, facing FEROCIOUS checkout staff, left CRYING and SHAKING!"
The media hound gets the money, and she gets the fallout.
