AIBU or should DH LTB - Scone disagreement

DH has gone to the shop and bought some clotted cream to go with my homemade scones.

I’ve served them without also making tea. He is outraged as whenever he prepares a meal or snack I get ‘full service’.

This is entirely true. He’s a foodie of the highest order and I always get a variety of trimmings and extras - he deals with all general food administration. I am LAZY and cannot be fagged with all the faffery.

He has said if I asked here I would be deemed entirely unreasonable for not providing tea (and a small round of ham sandwiches) with our afternoon tea.

YANBU - you made the scones from SCRATCH - he can do the tea if he wants some

YABU - if you serve scones you serve tea you heathen

THIS IS OBVIOUSLY LIGHTHEARTED

@BaronessBomburst

Butter, jam, cream. Just so everyone knows how it should be done properly. ✅
And tea

He eats like my DM. I'll send her round....

It is scone like ‘gone’ that’s how the queen pronounces it. That famous butler was on ‘this morning’ a few years ago and announced it to the uk population. I was very smug!

Orgasmagorical · 16/08/2021 19:19

For the love of God where is the butter??

Well thank God somebody said it! (I hope you get your curry back Flowers)

There is no place for cream on a sconn.

Merryoldgoat · 16/08/2021 19:40

What’s all this butter talk?! Cream and jam is all that’s needed.

I can confirm my chicken and sautéed potatoes was absolutely delicious.

Might need a lie down now 🤔

So OP you’re cream first and he’s jam first. A real Romeo and Juliet situation you got there. I just hope it doesn’t all end in bloodshed.

Sceptre86 · 16/08/2021 20:33

Scones are easy to make and don't take very long. If you are going to do an afternoon tea, then I'm in your dh's camp, do it properly.

Chuzzle · 16/08/2021 20:46

It's sconn. otherwise the joke doesn't work.
"what's the fastest cake in the cake shop?
...scone"

PS 2nd fastest? merrrrinnngue.

ahh - tea as in sandwiches - I thought you meant a pot of tea in the original post.

I actually prefer fresh raspberries to jam (but will eat jam if no raspberries)
And for proper afternoon tea you need cakes and macaroons to eat after the scones.
And a glass of champagne.

Merryoldgoat · 16/08/2021 20:59

@ThinWomansBrain

I did mean tea as in the beverage. The sandwiches came after.

Ive worked out who DH is: he’s basically Joey and Chandler crossed, as his actual job is Data Reconfiguration & Statistical Analysis, but spends all day thinking about what food is next.

tea - essential

sandwiches and pickles etc - over the top, and possibly greedy.

cream tea is tea scone, jam cream. That's it
