AIBU or should DH LTB - Scone disagreement

Merryoldgoat · 16/08/2021 16:59

DH has gone to the shop and bought some clotted cream to go with my homemade scones.

I’ve served them without also making tea. He is outraged as whenever he prepares a meal or snack I get ‘full service’.

This is entirely true. He’s a foodie of the highest order and I always get a variety of trimmings and extras - he deals with all general food administration. I am LAZY and cannot be fagged with all the faffery.

He has said if I asked here I would be deemed entirely unreasonable for not providing tea (and a small round of ham sandwiches) with our afternoon tea.

YANBU - you made the scones from SCRATCH - he can do the tea if he wants some

YABU - if you serve scones you serve tea you heathen

THIS IS OBVIOUSLY LIGHTHEARTED

I cannot comprehend a universe in which I would be served a scone without some tea to have with it. YABVU. 😌

Chikapu · 16/08/2021 17:21

Scones are so dry and claggy that of course you need a cup of tea (preferably Earl Grey) to wash them down with. Also, clotted cream is gross.

PhoenixFreesias · 16/08/2021 17:21

Depends if your scones are any good or not really.

Merryoldgoat · 16/08/2021 17:22

DH is very very smug as he sits here drinking his tea. Angry

Butter, jam, cream.
Just so everyone knows how it should be done properly. ✅

Livpool · 16/08/2021 17:24

Scone does not rhyme with bone - just for that YABU

Orgasmagorical · 16/08/2021 17:24
@Orgasmagorical

I literally typed that and DH said ‘do you want another sconn?’

We are now trying to remember how we usually say it 😬

Can you nip to Coop for some cake!
It's okay, panic over, I found a stale biscuit.

DH sounds like a good lad. I'm sure you usually call it sconn, don't let the other wrong posters try and mess with your correct memories.

dontblamemee · 16/08/2021 17:24

YABU not to make tea. Everyone knows that.

And lighthearted or not it's absolutely sconn not scone 😬

Flamglimglubberty · 16/08/2021 17:26

YANBU he knows where the kettle is.

Also scone as in bone is absolutely correct.

More importantly though, what did you put on the scone first? The cream or the jam?
psst, the only correct answer is cream

DogFoodPie · 16/08/2021 17:26

I really want a scone now.

Orgasmagorical · 16/08/2021 17:27

I don't want to put a spanner in the works, or set the cat among the pigeons, or even open a can of worms but would you judge me for drinking coffee with my sconn?

^^

ChorleyFMcominginyourears · 16/08/2021 17:27

A proper foodie?! Yabu I'll take him off your hands for you 😂

Merryoldgoat · 16/08/2021 17:27

@Flamglimglubberty

Well. I’m cream first. He’s jam. This makes me irrationally irritated.

OP posts:
aiwblam · 16/08/2021 17:28

Yabu. I’d be kissing his feet for the foodie feasts he sorts out. Providing a cup of tea is the least I would do! Since you cannot be fagged with the food stuff, that is even more reason for you to kiss his feet for it!

Flamglimglubberty · 16/08/2021 17:29

You absolutely need to LTB in that case

Merryoldgoat · 16/08/2021 17:29

@ChorleyFMcominginyourears

He does nearly all the cooking. I did some cereal yesterday so that counts.

OP posts:
TheSecondMrsAshwell · 16/08/2021 17:31

He's doing sandwiches and cheese with pickles? Bloody hell, what time do you have dinner, OP? Obviously, if that is dinner, YABU not to do tea, but if it's just a tiding over snack, I wouldn't want my dinner till 2am!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 16/08/2021 17:33

Yanbu about sandwiches etc. Not necessary unless its an actual meal.

However... its usual to ask people if they want a brew or cold drink with their snack surely?

0blio · 16/08/2021 17:33

@MoonlightWanderer

Also scones are quite easy to make.
I wish I could make nice ones, whatever recipe i follow mine are always too crumbly and I don't know why Confused

You certainly need a cup of tea with my sconns!

RJnomore1 · 16/08/2021 17:33

I have no idea who is BU but I want a bloody scone now 😂

Merryoldgoat · 16/08/2021 17:33

@TheSecondMrsAshwell

To be fair we won’t have dinner now. Maybe a bit of toast later.

ImAddictedToMyPhone · 16/08/2021 17:35

If he gives you the full service then you should do the same for him. Yabu

He puts the jam on first too?! Deffo Ltb and send him my way, I'm a jam first too 😂

Maireas · 16/08/2021 17:37
 1. It's sconn
 2. You evil witch from the depths of hell, how can you serve them without tea Confused?
Merryoldgoat · 16/08/2021 17:39

@Maireas

True story.

Just to add to his fan club he’s currently making the toddler’s dinner after repotting my hydrangea 🤣
