...I bought a mountain buggy on ebay last night for...guess...£20 buy it now

I have paid, the seller is lucid and sensible, but I am worried in case she made a bug typo error and hasn't noticed yet.

I am also worried that I am being deceitful buying it, despite it being legit etc. (3 people saw it before me, page counter thingy says - right place, right time and all that)

...because it was soooo cheap? She is surely missing out here. I feel dishonest for not saying, 'Look here, you should relist this at about 200 and it will still go within the week'.

Please either talk me out of my terrible guilt or something...

If it was a typo I will definitely not insist she goes ahead. I am far too nice

Sorry for being a thicko, but what's a mountain buggy?

brewanyone · 30/11/2007 06:54

Morning, I just looked at the buggy you brought. Good purchase. Maybe she just wanted rid. She said its used and has a flat tyre. You have yourself a bargain though.

Columbia · 30/11/2007 06:54

one of these

They usually go for around 200. New are £499 odd and retain value well.

Posh off-road, all-terrain type buggy 9D, usually mucho dinero so I can see why Columbia is worried

Well if it wasn't a typo harden your heart & enjoy the bargain Columbia it's her lookout. Is the P&P extortionate? Sometimes sellers keep the price low as they only pay small fees (worked out on percentage ) & wack on the P&P which ebay don't get a cut from.

Apologies if you know this already BTW!

SO good I posted twice sorry!

Columbia · 30/11/2007 07:07

Well Bossy it was collect only and I didn't see that bit, but she has said courier is fine - I'll do PPD at 4.99, if they are actually functioning atm, otherwise senditnow at 10.99. As long as she can find a box. Actually considered getting the train to Bedfore as that would cost £33 and would make it £53 all in

bargainmungus blimey that was a nice wee surprise - enjoy

Columbia · 30/11/2007 07:26

I wish she would email again...I hope she is just busy looking for a box.

Last night she wrote 'Courier is fine, or you can collect, let me know. It would be good if you could arrange payment though as I have another person emailing asking if I will courier it'.

What do you think that meant? Surely as I had already bought it she wasn't thinking of selling it to someone else? I did pay immediately by paypal after that, but didn't hear any more

OP posts:
Columbia · 30/11/2007 07:26

Maybe just making sure I wasn't mucking about, I guess. I expect she was worried in case I didn't manage to arrange anything and backed out of paying. ?

ScottishMummy · 30/11/2007 07:33

Oooh, fab bargain. She probably just got to the point of thinking urrrgh, I'm going to scream if I have to step over that bloody thing one more time.

And she's said it's well used, so if she put it as an auction and it went for 200 quid, she might have to deal with emails from people whingeing about the banana stain or the dog hair. If she sells it for 20 quid, it's out of her house and she knows the buyer is going to be happy.

It's a bit like that story last year about some radio DJ who slagged his wife off on his show, forgetting that his car was in her name. By the time he got home, she'd flogged his Lotus on eBay for 20p .

Columbia · 30/11/2007 09:40

Lol!!!

Maybe it's her husband and she has 300 other buggies (a bit like me )

OP posts:
Bouncingturtle · 30/11/2007 09:40

OOh That story about the DJ? Publicity stunt. DJ in question is an old uni friend of my DH's in fact he tried to persuade my DH to do a slot on his show couple of years ago, he and my Dh used to work on Magic Am together. His missus didn't really sell his Lotus. Though I wouldn't blame her, I've met him a couple of times and thought he was a complete arse.

Columbia · 30/11/2007 09:41

Brilliant! Makes a very good story doesn't it though!

OP posts:
Misdee · 30/11/2007 09:45

Columbia · 30/11/2007 09:47

Thanks Misdee. did you sell your covers?

OP posts:
Misdee · 30/11/2007 09:48

nope.

are you interested?

Columbia · 30/11/2007 09:50

Aw. Well Wilbur wouldn't thank me, lol I would have them like a shot if I could convince him he was female! Hope they go.

OP posts:
ninedragons · 30/11/2007 10:04

Gutted that the DJ story is not true...

beeper · 30/11/2007 15:46

YANBU - its the game and they posted the price. You have not decieved her/him or lied in anyway....free market economy.

But use it rather than selling it on.

Columbia · 30/11/2007 15:50

Thanks Beep. I will use it indeed - not a trader. I do sell them and buy them a bit but I want this one for us to use!
