Surely this has been done to death on MN now?

There are new people all the time who missed it when it was on before and still want to discuss it. Topics get repeated all the time. Just ignore them if they piss you off

But it's different to the sahm vs wohm debate and to most other topics discussed on MN in that nobody - no newbie - ever has anything new to bring to the table. It's just one endless rant about 'disgusting' parents who have their little kids' ears pierced. It's tiresome. I have ignored it for months, right up until today when I just thought 'For pity's sake, has this not been done a zillion times?'

Is there an ear-piercing thread? How outrageous! Must go and post IMMEDIATELY!

LoveMyGirls · 29/11/2007 20:50

I'm wondering if should get dd's done

(IM JOKING) i've already decided she can have them done for her 9th birthday.

rantinghousewife · 29/11/2007 20:50

Don't you feel their outrage, their righteous condemnation for 'other people's choices'?
No me either. I agree with you.

LittleBella · 29/11/2007 20:51

yes yabu.

Endless rehashed threads abot the same old subject sis what mumsent is all about.

Now go and post on it.

LoveAngelGabriel · 29/11/2007 20:52

The online petition just pisses me off. Are people really that bored? If they really find it so utterly offensive, go and picket Calire's accessories or something. Stop clogging the boards with repetitive threads. (And no, it is not my time of the month )

OP posts:
LittleBella · 29/11/2007 20:53

is there an online petition against it?

Gawd, people do feel strongly, don't they?

pooka · 29/11/2007 20:53

But if one was able to stop anyone posting something that's been said before, there wouldn't be much of a site.

That would include threads where there is an almost universal consensus - like the Heat stickers thread.

Practically everyone (barring I think one poster) was aghast. Would you then say that someone posting "I too am outraged" should not be allowed to do so, because they aren't bringing anything new to the table.

So there wouldn't also be any more threads on: early weaning/circumcision/p&c spaces?

LoveAngelGabriel · 29/11/2007 20:54

lol@ LittleBella and ranting housewife.

At least in my grumpy ranting on I can find like minded individuals. I was starting to feel like a freak because I genuinely don't feel the need to burst into tears at the sight of a 2 yr old sporting gold studs.

rantinghousewife · 29/11/2007 20:55

What about gold hoops then

RobertSmithStoleMyLipstick · 29/11/2007 20:56

YABU

but you know that really

LoveAngelGabriel · 29/11/2007 20:56

You're right of course@pooka. Freedom of speech (freedom to post?) and all that. It still annoys me, though.

LoveAngelGabriel · 29/11/2007 20:57

I know, I know@Robert Smith (must dig out my old Cure albums! Maybe a good old rendition of 'Love cats' will brighten my mood))

Rhubarb · 29/11/2007 21:03
