Had a few drinks.
Went to McDonald's.
About 11pm.
Bitmg group of youths. And they had a baby less than 1 Yr old in a car seat. It went on and on and the babys needs were being ignored. I called 111 and they shut me down and treated me like an idiot
I've gone home in tears for that poor little girl and how no one would help her

OP posts:

sorry what? you called the NHS because there was a baby in Macdonalds?

I really don't understand

CrazyOldBagLady · 15/08/2021 00:24

The baby was crying for a long time you mean? I don't think you are unreasonable for caring about how a baby is being treated, maybe 111 isn't the right place to speak to about it though as it's not a medical issue. Perhaps the police may have given better advice on 101?

SmidgenofaPigeon · 15/08/2021 00:26

How long were you in the McDonalds if it was a stop off after a few drinks?

54321nought · 15/08/2021 00:26

babies cry. Is that what you are saying? The baby cried? Surely its up to the parent how to respond.

Sorry, you have not given any reason to think the baby needed any help.

PaddleBlue · 15/08/2021 00:27

Not really much info to go off here?

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 15/08/2021 00:30

Maybe 111 didn't understand what you meant....

XenoBitch · 15/08/2021 00:31

I am confused too. 111 is there for you, or someone you know.... not a stranger. Maybe you meant 101.

Sparklesocks · 15/08/2021 00:35

Yes did you mean you called the police non emergency number, not the NHS? Im not sure if they could’ve helped.

PumpkinKlNG · 15/08/2021 00:36

I still don’t understand why you called the police? Or 111 for people ignoring a crying baby? Plenty of parents ignore their babies crying? How is it a police matter?

babysittingNC · 15/08/2021 00:38

I don't know what the NHS can do about the problem? I

Sparklesocks · 15/08/2021 00:40

Is it possible you’re a bit pissed OP and it’s made you a bit emotional

Kinneddar · 15/08/2021 00:42

Had a few drinks

You don't say Hmm

I assume the OP has meant 101 but if her call made a much sense as her post I'm.not surprised they 'shut her down'

HunterGatherer · 15/08/2021 00:43

I thought she meant 101 as well.

PumpkinKlNG · 15/08/2021 00:44

Even if she meant 101 why would you call the police for a baby crying and parents ignoring? That’s nothing to do with the police loads of people ignoring crying kids

FrankButchersDickieBow · 15/08/2021 00:47

I'm sure you'll be okay when you wake up in the morning and have a couple of cups of coffee 😂
HemanOrSheRa · 15/08/2021 00:49

Enough internet for you. Go to bed. Boring holidays will be over soon.

VoiceOfCommonSense · 15/08/2021 00:51

So you went out, got pissed, saw a baby crying in a car and made a drunken phone call. Silly woman..

VenusTiger · 15/08/2021 00:53

I don't know what's going on here with PPs, but you all seem to be ignoring the fact that a baby should be asleep in a cot at 11pm, not out at night being kept awake in a brightly-lit McDs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MN is F shocking at times!

OP, I'm sure you meant 101 - hope you're okay.

XenoBitch · 15/08/2021 00:54

In AIBU tomorrow... I had a missed call from 111 about a panicked call regarding a crying baby. What do I do?
VenusTiger · 15/08/2021 00:55

@VoiceOfCommonSense it clearly says car seat and in McDs - not in a car.
Why do pps do this - why do ppl assume a few drinks means drunk?

StarLightOnboard · 15/08/2021 00:59

Did they say anything useful on the phone?

PumpkinKlNG · 15/08/2021 01:03

So there is no time limit on when a child should be home? It’s not the law? So you are going to call the police on anyone you see with a baby out late 😂😳

CatNameChange101 · 15/08/2021 01:03

How were the baby’s needs not being met OP?

Mandalay246 · 15/08/2021 01:06

Yes it should, but it's not actually illegal to take a baby out any time you want to, and certainly doesn't require a complete stranger to get involved.

OP as your post is totally unclear to us I'm sure your call to 111 (I presume you meant 101 - 111 is the emergency services number in NZ) was just as unclear so it's no wonder they shut you down.

Hm2020 · 15/08/2021 01:08

When my son was a baby we’d often get sent home from a&e at 1 in the morning and would grab our selfs a McDonalds from Across the road before getting a cab.
