Had a few drinks.
Went to McDonald's.
About 11pm.
Bitmg group of youths. And they had a baby less than 1 Yr old in a car seat. It went on and on and the babys needs were being ignored. I called 111 and they shut me down and treated me like an idiot
I've gone home in tears for that poor little girl and how no one would help her

You still have no idea what the situation was. You're still being unreasonable.

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 15/08/2021 20:32

Sorry posted too soon, glad you were concerned for the babies welfare and a baby shouldn’t be out with a group of youths at McDonald’s at that time.

UnbeatenMum · 15/08/2021 20:32

You were right that this could be a child protection concern and the police might have come out if parents were drunk or if they had any PCSOs in the area, I'm not sure where the bar is for that kind of thing. If you knew the parents names or address you could call children's services but I guess you didn't if you just saw them in McDonald's. Don't be embarrassed though, you got the number wrong but you did the right thing trying to report it.

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 15/08/2021 20:33

@emuloc

Op there was no need for what you said in your update. You do not know that this baby was being dragged around on a night out.
Agree, the update reeks of judgement.
NeverDropYourMooncup · 15/08/2021 20:47

@VenusTiger

I don't know what's going on here with PPs, but you all seem to be ignoring the fact that a baby should be asleep in a cot at 11pm, not out at night being kept awake in a brightly-lit McDs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MN is F shocking at times!

OP, I'm sure you meant 101 - hope you're okay.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha...

I needed you a few years back - maybe you could have convinced DD of this important fact, because no other fucker could.

lannistunut · 15/08/2021 20:47

Oh dear, well it really isn't the worst call they have ever had!

regthetabbycat · 15/08/2021 20:50

You rang about something that happened at 11pm tonight?

It isn't 11pm yet!

lannistunut · 15/08/2021 20:53

@regthetabbycat

You rang about something that happened at 11pm tonight?

It isn't 11pm yet!

It was last night Grin and now they are much more sober!
chalamet · 15/08/2021 20:54

@54321nought

sorry what? you called the NHS because there was a baby in Macdonalds?

I really don't understand

I actually laughed out loud at this Grin
regthetabbycat · 15/08/2021 20:54

please ignore that post - misread time

Opaljewel · 15/08/2021 20:58

How do you not know that the baby wouldn't sleep so they drove to a mcdonalds to see if the baby would fall asleep on the drive to there? There could be a 100 and 1 reasons. You're judging them because they are young. You don't actually know what was going on.

Lumpwoody · 15/08/2021 21:02

I’m really upset at the judgement.

I remember one year bringing a bunch of teens back from a sporting event withdds with me. I had a people carrier and a trailer on.

We had a great few days and we stopped in a take away joint on the way home. The teens were loud and laughing. It was late. I had a 3 and 1 year old and it was genuinely one of the best weekends I’ve ever had.

Why the fuck would someone ring the police on that? (Even if they did ring the nhs)

SuperstoreFan · 15/08/2021 21:09

The judgment is strong.

Lumpwoody · 15/08/2021 21:17

Absolutely. And based on fuck all.

I was a young mum with my teen and we were a mixed group of older teens and young adults. And I had a baby and a toddler. Because I was invited and wanted to go and had no one to look after them and the group told me to come anyway.

And we stopped late for something to eat on the way home.

What a fucking crime.

DickDastardly · 15/08/2021 21:24

We all have a responsibility to report the stuff which rings alarm bells with us and it's not for anyone on this post to say otherwise - unless you were there?

I mean, calling 111 isn't correct but the op has explained that one

If only more people had tried to help small children like kaylee priest - please do take a look at that thread. Nobody should be excusing poor parenting but none of us were there so this is down to the op's judgement

RoseRedRoseBlue · 15/08/2021 21:25

@SuperstoreFan

The judgment is strong.
It reeks of it!
Lumpwoody · 15/08/2021 21:29

So I’m supposed to count myself lucky no one phoned the nhs on me for having kids out late and night on the way home from a weekend away.

sammylady37 · 15/08/2021 21:30

The problem is the op clearly wasn’t sober when making her judgement.
DickDastardly · 15/08/2021 21:33

@Lumpwoody I don't know the answer to your question.

I've merely pointed out that people should be judging poor parenting as they see it and reporting concerns. Of course there is no issue with children being out late with parents. That isn't a crime

But there is an issue when a passer by feels concerned by what they see. I don't see how anyone can argue that point

Lumpwoody · 15/08/2021 21:35

A pissed as a fart passer by who rings the fucking nhs.

Aye right.

DickDastardly · 15/08/2021 21:36

I think you have a bit of a chip on your shoulder for some reason @Lumpwoody

Maybe you've had your parenting judged before. Nobody is aiming anything at you.

Lumpwoody · 15/08/2021 21:38

I haven’t to my knowledge.

The op was out of order. She was pissed as a fart and she rang because some child was out at 11pm in McDonald’s.

That’s ridiculous.

Port1aCastis · 15/08/2021 22:03

Rat arsed OP called 111 oh dear!
That baby could be en route home or taken out because a car journey would get it to sleep, who knows and stop judging when you're hardly a stellar example being in MaccyDs pissed as a fart anyway

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 15/08/2021 22:04

We go on holiday a couple of times a year to the other side of the U.K., 7-8 hour drives, and as a result often end up in service stations and McDonalds etc at 10pm+ especially if we hit traffic. Have done since the DC were babies.

Totally laughable to think someone would call the police because we feed ourselves on a long car journey.

OP, someone more judgmental than me (but not more judgmental than you) might judge you for having a baby at home and being so paralytic you can barely type a sentence, are overly emotional over nothing and when you try to ring the police you call the wrong number. Some might say that sounds like one hell of a hangover and how can you adequately care for a baby when you get so very drunk and risk being well enough to look after your child.

I wouldn't make that judgement, but someone just like you would. Have a think about that before you cast your next stone.

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 15/08/2021 22:05

But it wasn't poor parenting.

OP couldn't even make a phone call properly and assumed young parents must be bad parents.
