DH has bought a new suit and we’re not sure if it fits! I felt that it looked a bit…baggy. But then I’m used to slim-fit suits so maybe this is just what they’re supposed to look like!

Thoughts below please :)

I think it looks lovely!

Batshittery · 11/08/2021 20:06

I think it looks a good fit

ooowhataday · 11/08/2021 20:07

It's a smidge too big and therefore looks untidy. It looks like he borrowed a mates suit for court type fit! Grin

Jacopo · 11/08/2021 20:07

Looks great and he has a nice bod.

Vallmo47 · 11/08/2021 20:08

Wow, people are harsh on MN in general so I would take ‘Ok’ as a compliment.

I think he looks lovely!! I hate tight clothes on men, that’s not manly for me at all…

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 11/08/2021 20:09

This is my boyfriend Hugh if only. This is what suits should look like.

Suit jackets anyway, poor Hugh need another half inch on the troose!

Doyouavocado · 11/08/2021 20:11

My husband said too baggy on arms and trousers, I would agree.

NannyAndJohn · 11/08/2021 20:12

A little loose, but not ever so noticeable.

Not particularly keen on the suit itself though, a bit too "failed businessman" for me (sorry).

Waspsarearseholes · 11/08/2021 20:14

It's a perfectly nice, well-fitting suit. Dare I hope that this 'trend' for sprayed-on suits is finally buggering off?

Lou25mumof1 · 11/08/2021 20:16

Thanks so much everyone! Although I’m not sure how much this has helped as there are a lot of mixed opinions. Grin

He’s definitely not a salesman or a recruitment consultant; it’s for a wedding!

The jacket is a little too big. I do wonder if the size below would be too small though but I think you should try it. Or try a different suit.

It’s not always easy to get an off the peg suit without it needing adjustment and that can be costly. My observation is that the shoulders are a little too wide. It looks as though you could get your arm underneath the buttons as it bags a bit at the front, the back is not smooth, particularly where I’ve circled in the attached photo.

Idk if he needs it urgently but dh managed to get a suit, which fitted like a glove from M&S a couple of years ago.

I am going to say it depends on what he paid for it. For a budget work suit its fine but for an expensive suit I would eant to see a better fit.

GeorgeTheFirst · 11/08/2021 20:23

It fits

Aprilx · 11/08/2021 20:23

It’s fine and is a nice suit. I think once past the age of 25-30, slim fit suits aren’t the norm.

Sidge · 11/08/2021 20:26

It fits, but not well.

I’m not a fan of skinny fit suits, but his looks a little too generous across the back and trunk, and the sleeves look baggy.

I think he probably could have gone down a size in the jacket.

Puffalicious · 11/08/2021 20:30

@Bargebill19

That’s fine. Slim fits either scream salesman who’s going to lie through his teeth to get the sale, or someone desperately clinging to youth. They are also ‘hilarious’ to look at - especially if the person wearing them is tall and the viewer is short or sitting down. (🤢 not envy)
This!!! Can you believe that i was in car show room the other day looking at a new car and the (very nice) salesman had on the most ludicrous skinny suit- it was also checked which made him look like a total spiv. Not a good look.
0blio · 11/08/2021 20:31

It looks great OP.

Hugh's looks too small for him!

Noshowwithoutpunch · 11/08/2021 20:33

Looks good.

KingdomScrolls · 11/08/2021 20:34

It fits ok but a tailor would bring it in a bit at the waist for not much money. For those bemoaning the slim fit suit my DH could never get a stout that fit before they became ubiquitous. He's 6'4 with a 30 inches waist and broad shoulders. He drowns in a regular cut

Deadringer · 11/08/2021 20:37

I think it looks really well. Hate that skinny, bet on look that some guys go for.

godmum56 · 11/08/2021 20:41

DH used to like this about some Marks suits....jacket and trousers sold separately also can buy 2 trousers and one jacket. He had to wear a suit for work but used to take off the jacket and put on a sweater at work because much of his time was spent outside whatever the weather...so waterproof padded hi viz coat.
Mandalay246 · 11/08/2021 20:42

It's fine. Slim fit suits look ridiculous on most men.

ItsDinah · 11/08/2021 20:43

It's not a good fit. If you can, take it back. Look at the shoulders. Most of us are not symmetrical and your husband looks as if he has a good figure generally but this suit is definitely not for him. Different brands cut to fit different figure types so it's not a question of going up or down a size.

DappledThings · 11/08/2021 20:43

Looks fine.

The High Jackman one looks very silly.
