5-6 hours very broken up. 16 year old daughter with disabilities who has never slept through the night apart from a handful of occasions. I'm running on empty.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 11/08/2021 07:49

7-8. I feel it when it's only 6-7 for a few days on the trot.

My kids sleep relatively well but I have a lack of me time in life generally (juggling full time work and kids etc) and end up staying up a bit late because it's the only time the kids are asleep and work is offline.

Sprogonthetyne · 11/08/2021 07:53

4-6 hours usually split over 3 stretches. ASD DS plus toddler DD, it's been over 5 years since I last had 3 consecutive hours.

bongbigboobingbongbing · 11/08/2021 13:12

I am in awe of those of you surviving on 6 hours sleep or less. People truly are amazing. I hope you all manage a decent night's kip in the not too distant future.

takealettermsjones · 11/08/2021 13:22

7 most days. I would like longer but I prioritise having a bit of me time in the evening over more sleep. You can't have everything!

MorningTeas · 11/08/2021 13:24

About 7-8hrs depending on what time I go to bed, I like some quiet time in the evenings

Carrotinsaladiswrong · 11/08/2021 13:25

Depends on when I want to sleep, DS is 2 and usually asleep between 7-8pm, if I’m exhausted I could easily sleep until he wakes at 6:30, but usually I’m asleep for 11, so between 6-8 hours depending.

Monday26July · 11/08/2021 13:27

I have a 20m old and work three days per week.

I get approx 9-10hr per night, I could have more if I needed more, and can cope fine with less.

Stompythedinosaur · 11/08/2021 13:28

These days I get 6-7 hours. I survived for a few years on 2-4 hours and I honestly think it damaged my brain!

Fernando072020 · 11/08/2021 13:28

6-8 hours but it's broken. I haven't had 6-8 unbroken in over 13 months. It feels somehow normal now although my brain doesn't work as well when trying to uni work as it did before 😅

Hardbackwriter · 11/08/2021 13:32

According to my Fitbit I average about 7 hours actually asleep but it's very broken (6 month old who I feed 2 or 3 times a night, 3 year old who sleeps through most nights but not always, and for some reason the cats have gone fucking mental at night recently). I'm in bed for about 9 hours. Pre kids I used to get 6-7 hours a night and be great on that but that's because it was deep and unbroken sleep - I find it really hard when it's all little chunks. Fortunately DS2 is a much better sleeper, at this age with DS1 I was getting about four hours in broken chunks and I was an absolute shell of a woman.

NotMyCat · 11/08/2021 13:46

No DC, medical conditions that mean I'm permanently tired
Between 5-6.5hrs. Even if I go to bed early, my time asleep is never more than 6.5hrs and I'm so fucking tired Sad

gobackanddoitproperly · 11/08/2021 13:49

6 and my youngest is 14! I appear to need less these days. I used to require 8+ hours.

Pissinthepottyplease · 11/08/2021 13:52

Depends on the night. Last night I got 6 hours of very broken sleep but normally around 8 hours of frequently broken sleep. I have a 2 year old who is up frequently and a 5 year old who rarely wakes up.

MuchTooTired · 11/08/2021 13:54

According to my Fitbit, I average 6-7 hours a night currently.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 11/08/2021 13:54

About 7 I guess.

But I’d like 9!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 11/08/2021 13:55

I don’t have little ones who wake me up - mine are 12 and 7 - I’m just crap at going to bed and then have work in the morning!

WhatHaveIFound · 11/08/2021 13:55

Around 6-6½ hours and my DC are now 19 & 16 years old Grin

To be fair it was DC2 who was a nightmare sleeper as a baby and seems to upset my sleep pattern for life!

canigooutyet · 11/08/2021 14:01

I've have always had around 4-5 hours sleep even when I was younger. Night terrors and physical pain are a bitch. The few times I've managed more I've been exhausted and in no state to do anything.

My dc's aside from one who also goes 5 hours max. but thankfully without the pain and terrors, the others would easily sleep 12+ hours if left.

MeadowHay · 11/08/2021 14:03

Varies massively, anywhere between 6 and 9 is normal for me. Probably around 7hrs is the most common. This is mainly just because I go to bed too late though not because of DD. However I do often lose time in the night because of DD or noise outside or DH snoring or me waking in pain with PGP or me waking for no reason and getting anxious. I'm a terrible sleeper and wake at least every few hours all night long, bad nights more often than that and can be awake for a couple of hours in the middle of the night at various points unable to sleep. It's so frustrating.

Miliao · 11/08/2021 14:56

6 or 7, probably more now than when I was working (I used to do very long hours!).

MinnieMountain · 11/08/2021 15:04

7.5-8 hours. If I get less it’s down to the peri-menopause waking me up at 4am.

Although DS has always been an early riser, so I’m conditioned to waking up around 6am.

Vbree · 11/08/2021 15:17

Roughly 5-6 broken. My 14 month old son is a great sleeper fortunately but I've always been a terrible sleeper. Would be worse if he was up in the night. If I get a chance to nap in the day it helps. Only possible at the weekends at the moment as I'm back at work full time.

Abouttimemum · 11/08/2021 15:30

8 hours, still knackered Confused

alltheemptyfields · 11/08/2021 15:32

6 or 7

It's awfully unhealthy, but how else does anyone manage working and having children?
