Just when you think ending a statement or sentence with "discuss", along comes "I'll wait."

It's so fucking obnoxious.

@Tiredforfive45

Go!

Like the start of a shite race that nobody asked to participate in.

Best places to eat in Newcastle? Go!

I can't pinpoint why but I just find it so rude! Like people are just rushing to answer you, because you're you. Awful.

NewlyGranny · 08/08/2021 18:35

"... prove me wrong."

Kithic · 08/08/2021 18:36

This

BritWifeInUSA · 08/08/2021 18:38

“Go!” Is awful because it implies people are lining up, desperate to answer your question, each one wanting to compete with the others to be first or to give the best answer and all of them “needing” your permission before they can start answering,

How entitled!

trappedsincesundaymorn · 08/08/2021 18:38

"Period", as in "I'm right, you're wrong. Period"

Garfunkle · 08/08/2021 18:39

It means hope that helps, except the implication is that you don’t really care if it helps. So say an op says I don’t understand why some people like bowling. You might answer
Because we like it. HTH

Ah right thank you.
For some reason it always gives me the impression of someone banging a gavel

BangingOn · 08/08/2021 18:39

End of.

Geamhradh · 08/08/2021 18:41

"Awaits flaming" is irritating. Although at least helpful because you know the person has said something twatty, (and probably racist, sexist, ageist or disablist) and you can mentally file them in the obnoxious box and not engage any more.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 08/08/2021 18:43

"lol, ok"

As in "you think [completely rational thing]? Lol, ok"

Kanaloa · 08/08/2021 18:44

I actually find it weirder when people say ‘awaits flaming’ after saying something nobody would flame them for. Also ‘going against the grain’ before repeating what a hundred posters have just said.

So when someone says ‘I eat ham sandwiches for lunch. Getting my hard hat on!’ I find it so odd.

Stuckhere2021 · 08/08/2021 18:46

Weeellllllll okaaaaay then!

WheresTheLambSauce · 08/08/2021 18:47

"No, I will not elaborate"

When 95% of the time they're clearly dying to 🙄

fairyhouse · 08/08/2021 18:49

@Garfunkle

HTH

I have seen that many times here. It annoys me even though I have no idea what it means. What does it mean?

Until I found out what HTH meant, I used to say Hi There Helen in my head Grin
Miniestelle · 08/08/2021 18:50

.....thoughts?
......agree?
......I changed that for you.

OoglyMoogly · 08/08/2021 18:50

At least seems to have died out.

In a lighthearted discussion on I dunno, whether butter, cream or jam goes first on a scone, someone used to put

Jam.

Like there's only one opinion that counts. Hmm

(I appreciate that is a discussion to provoke strong opinions, not even going there about the pronunciation of scone) GrinWink

HestersSamplerofCarrots · 08/08/2021 18:51

Boom

Member589500 · 08/08/2021 18:51

Blah Blah Blah statement ‘Get over it’.

Like they’re more mature and broad minded and there’s obviously no debate to be had and anyone who comments about any tiny thing to do with Blah is just some uptight bigot.

FatJan · 08/08/2021 18:53

Educate yourself.

SoupDragon · 08/08/2021 18:53

"Opinion blah blah blah" You're welcome.

lannistunut · 08/08/2021 18:53

Simples is the most annoying to me.

SoupDragon · 08/08/2021 18:54

DS says that the most annoying way to finish a text is with a full stop 🙄 Apparently it is "aggressive"

Samafe · 08/08/2021 18:55

But maybe I am wrong.

BoarOnTheFloor · 08/08/2021 18:56

Go!

I hate this too but people respond! Really quickly, like they were waiting to be asked! I always want to reply go on Tripadvisor you lazy bugger.

123ZYX · 08/08/2021 18:57

Emphasising with "You just ..." or "It just ..." really annoys me and I don't know why I find it so irritating.

For example "You can't have butter and jam on your toast. You just can't."

It's ok grammatically, it makes sense as a way of emphasising something, but there's something about it that I hate.

AlmostSummer21 · 08/08/2021 18:58

I haven't heard/seen 'Go', but I don't think anything will wind me up faster & further than 'discuss'. Instant rage.
