@ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia

Original poster enjoy your sports shoes and if it takes two decades off - that is worth it’s weight in gold! Trainers only have a sizing issue and no other physical nor psychological requirement especially age! Put the spring in your step!
How can a pair of trainers take 20 years off someone??
AbsolutelyPatsy · 07/08/2021 18:45

nope, not even velcro

KentuckyCriedFricken · 07/08/2021 18:48

YABU for such an anti climax. I clicked on the link expecting to see something completely ridiculous but saw….a pair of trainers.

Squiz81 · 07/08/2021 18:50

Are you looking at them objectively - as in, do you actually like them or is it a nostalgic thing or the pleasure of buying something you couldn’t afford when you were a teen.

It’s not a style of trainer I would choose (at the ripe old age of 40) not because of my age, but because I don’t really like them and they wouldnt really go with any of my clothes. If that doesn’t apply to you and you have £100 to burn YANBU.

Greystray · 07/08/2021 18:52

I thought they would be a pair of chunky platform Spice Girl trainers! Yes, buy them. What's 39? I'm mid 40s and I just bought a My Little Pony I never got my hands on in the 80s.

As long as you're not spending the mortgage or food budget pm these things, do what makes you happy.

Harrysmummy246 · 07/08/2021 18:52

umm, they're trainers
I clicked the link expecting something a bit out there.

I would wear them at 39 but I'm not going out of my way looking (I have 3 pairs of running shoes for running already and not a lot of space/ funds)

WobblingMoon · 07/08/2021 18:55

Buy this instead, read it and then buy whatever the hell you want

@Zzzzzzxxx

I am 35 and have 2 pairs of buffalo boots for my inner 14 year old
@Zzzzzzxxx I really want some for my 14 yr old self too!!
Ozberry · 07/08/2021 18:56

Are you much different to your 19 year old self? I’m the same person, but with a lot more life experience, so I see no harm in indulging myself with 90s gear.

Never was into Nike but if you were and you love them, get them!

Iseeyoulookingatme · 07/08/2021 18:58

I put you are being unreasonable because you should just buy what you want. It's a pair of trainers op. I don't understand this obsession with being to old to wear things. Just wear what makes you happy and didn't give a moments notice what anyone else thinks.

BIWI · 07/08/2021 19:01

FFS why on earth should your age have ANYTHING to do with what trainers you wear?!

DoucheCanoe · 07/08/2021 19:02

I'm 35 and really like them!

With that said I live in trainers/jeans and just buy whatever I fancy, doesn't occur to me that there would be an age limit.

Booboosweet · 07/08/2021 19:10

They're just a normal pair of runners.

Jenasaurus · 07/08/2021 19:11

I thought it was going to be something like this

HestersSamplerofCarrots · 07/08/2021 19:12

I’m not seeing the problem. I’m older than you and would buy them without age as an issue even coming into it. It’s just weird to be concerned about a pair of grey trainers. It’s not like they’re a pair of heelies, or white platform trainers to be worn with a Union Jack dress!

(Budget on the other hand….)

TheCrowening · 07/08/2021 19:13

They’re just trainers, says me in my mid forties who still wears Star Wars dresses

aiwblam · 07/08/2021 19:13

I’m older than you and would happily wear them.

Jenasaurus · 07/08/2021 19:13

or these

MiloAndEddie · 07/08/2021 19:14

Thanks a lot OP, now I want some Grin

Dollywilde · 07/08/2021 19:14

Mate, I’m 32 and a married mother in the suburbs. I wear Boden and have a pensions advice chat coming up next week. I still have a constant, low burning desire to buy a pair of New Rocks and stomp up to Camden for some illegal refreshments atmosphere Grin

Basically… do it!

Maireas · 07/08/2021 19:15

@eightyfourandahalf

You could be 68 and still pull them off, depends what you are wearing. style has nothing to do with age.
This. Absolutely!
Dollywilde · 07/08/2021 19:15

(For those unfamiliar with New Rocks)

To buy these at the age of 39?
shesellsseacats · 07/08/2021 19:15

Decent trainers are really comfy. I let my grands friend who was in her 70s try my Nike Airs on when I was a teenager and she was overjoyed at how comfy they were. She said she was going to go buy herself a pair.

Why shouldn't we have comfy feet as we get older? Tell the 19 year old you who thinks they're the only for the cool kids to bog off.

It's a pair of shoes, your feet deserve comfort!

Maireas · 07/08/2021 19:16

I was expecting something... well, more radical. You won't alarm anyone, go for it!

IdreamofPilates · 07/08/2021 19:17

They are hideous. Don't buy them - get some colour in your life!!!
