Something my 5yo would like. Sorry op, it looks like kids shoes.

Wobblelmyheadplease · 07/08/2021 17:43

@LeSquigh

But as a side note, buying kids shoes is a false economy unless you are tiny. They are not built for adult weight and they are never as comfortable as the women’s option and they don’t last as long. In my experience at least.
Thanks for the heads up, that explains why these were originally 160 when on other sites they were 100 (those were the kids). They are now reading out of stock but I had a pair in my basket so have checked them out. Thanks for the advice!

@cariadlet

It seems a lot to pay for trainers to me (but I know I'm completely out of touch with the cost of big brand trainers). But they're just trainers. They're ok for anyone of any age.

I opened the thread expecting to see something way more daring and age inappropriate than just a pair of trainers.

I was expecting either those massive 90s goth boots with huge buckles, or Irregular Choice stilettos.

Grey trainers are like... the dullest shoe possible.

LemonViolet · 07/08/2021 17:50

90's were a bit more lively where I lived
Haha I know I thought it was going to be foam wedge platforms à la Spice Girls!! I had a pair of those, blue and lime green, with Velcro ankle straps, about 4 inches at the toe, no idea how I didn’t break my ankle wearing them. Absolutely hideous in retrospect!!!

phishy · 07/08/2021 17:54

Genuinely, I never notice anyone’s trainers. Buy them!

Zzzzzzxxx · 07/08/2021 17:55

I am 35 and have 2 pairs of buffalo boots for my inner 14 year old

glasshalfsomething · 07/08/2021 17:56

Do it!

withlotsoflove · 07/08/2021 18:09

I’m 104 & wear them with hot pants usually!

Clammyclam · 07/08/2021 18:10

Buy them.

I bought some air max when I got my first student loan 20 years ago as I'd wanted some for 10 years and they were way out of my family's budget.

WorraLiberty · 07/08/2021 18:11

Eh?

If I saw a 70 year old wearing trainers and jeans (which I often do) I wouldn't bat an eyelid. Not sure what 39 has to do with anything Confused

Classica · 07/08/2021 18:11

SOO many threads on MN by people of the advanced age of 39 or 43 or 47 wondering if it would be too daring for them to wear a pair of Nike trainers, or a denim jacket, or some other totally standard item of clothing. I don't get it! Grin

FangsForTheMemory · 07/08/2021 18:12

Why ever not? I'm a lot older than you and I live in my trainers.

JustLoveYourselfALittle · 07/08/2021 18:13

Same age.. I'd buy them but prob in white.

BillieSpain · 07/08/2021 18:14

I'm 50 and wear them... I didn't realise it was outrageous? Hmm (My Dsis 49, her hand me downs)

Aprilx · 07/08/2021 18:14

I don’t understand either. They are just trainers. I am 51 and I have trainers, I don’t feel that I need to justify them as being for my 21 year old self or anything.

diddl · 07/08/2021 18:14

I would't buy them as I don't like them but I can't see anything about them that screams young/old/inbetween.

Not that it would matter of course.

What about them makes you think that you are too old?

They are just trainers!

Toddlerteaplease · 07/08/2021 18:15

I really want to buy myself another pair of buffalo boots. I had some in the 90's and loved them!

Ingloriousbasterd · 07/08/2021 18:16

I like the black pair, wear what you like lol x

MirandaMarple · 07/08/2021 18:16

I have a friend who has suddenly started referring to her age (40) and whether any choices she makes (not just fashion ones) are 'age appropriate'

It's actually really getting on my nerves.

This would piss me off too!
FionnulaTheCooler · 07/08/2021 18:19

I too was expecting something a bit more out there than plain Nike trainers. I'm about OP's age and happily wear Hello Kitty Converse, although my daughter pretends not to be with me Grin.

MiddlesexGirl · 07/08/2021 18:19

Good lord. Wear them at 93 if you like them!

M6090 · 07/08/2021 18:19

Not only hideous, but expensive Confused

supersonicginandtonic · 07/08/2021 18:21

My 13 year old daughter has a pair but no longer wears them as she says roadmen wear them. (Not a man that works on the motorway) as I thought 😂

Exactly this!
