To want to sit in the front seat?

I have had a baby (4months old now) and we are just getting a car now. (Couldnt afford it sooner)

I was wondering why I see so many people where the mum or dad (whoever is the passenger) sits in the back with the baby. I generally get really dizzy in the back and I dont drive therefore me sitting in the back is the only option if one of us has to, but the question is, Does one of us really have to at this age? Or is that more in the newborn phase? Why do people do it if there is mirros that you could hang and i could turn around checking on baby? If it is necessary/ recommended, until what age?

My three year old happily sits in the back on his own now too, so no lasting damage, no rod made and we had some much less stressful car journeys. We all make different choices but no need to ridicule decisions made by others when it doesn’t make any difference to you.

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba bit strange you're taking my experience so personally but I don't feel to blame for others motion sickness and it wasn't relevant to what I said.
I'm not naive I just focus on the relevant

One of us still sits in the back for motorway journeys (nearly 3yr old) just to reduce the stress on the driver if she gets upset, drops her toy etc and needs dealing with. We don't do it on any other journeys as its easier to stop if needed.

Neither of us sat in the back with baby. If only one of us was in the car then the car seat was in the front passenger seat (until moved to front facing).

You can get mirrors that mount to give you a view of baby if you want.

We did it sometimes although I do disagree with it an think a baby needs to get used to sitting in the back without a parent. If you are alone, the baby has to sit alone

I remember driving for 8 hrs (lots of stops) alone and DC crying a lot.

I sat in the back when my PFB was newborn but not since then. We have headrest mirrors for them so I can turn around and see them both (I'm always a passenger as don't drive yet).
We mostly just pull silly faces at each other in the mirrors 😁
