To do an LFT on my dog?

Snufflensneeze · 01/08/2021 19:52

My dog is really sneezy and coughing a bit. I’ve seen somewhere that the can carry Covid.
Would an LFT work? Her nose is a bit runny, I could easily sample her.

I’m intrigued!

Takingabreakagain · 01/08/2021 19:54

Sounds like kennel cough which would be much, much more likely

sirfredfredgeorge · 01/08/2021 19:55

No of course not, do not waste expensive medical tests on your fucking dog.

icedcoffees · 01/08/2021 19:55

I would bet £100 that your dog has Kennel Cough.

Please ring your vets in the morning. It's highly, highly contagious and you'll need to keep her home for a couple of weeks.

DanceForeverUnderTheLights · 01/08/2021 19:55

Barking mad

AwkwardPaws27 · 01/08/2021 19:56

If sneezing I'd probably call the vets; might be kennel cough but lots of sneezing could possibly be a grass seed up the nose x

User5827372728 · 01/08/2021 19:57

Also intrigued.

Give it a go and see!

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 01/08/2021 19:57

... and in the meantime make her wear a mask.

Honeyroar · 01/08/2021 19:57

Seriously- if you’re worried that she’s ill speak to your vets. I’d guess pollen or something.

Mrsjayy · 01/08/2021 19:58

Are you really going to stick a cotton bud down your dogs throat good luck with that! It's more than likely allergy or as pp said kennel cough.

clickychicky · 01/08/2021 19:59

That sounds incredibly cruel

LakieLady · 01/08/2021 20:00

There seems to be a lot of kennel cough around at the moment.

My SIL's lab had it, as have a couple of dogs in my road, and my friend is taking her dog to the vet in the morning as she thinks he's got it.

Bordernotboarder · 01/08/2021 20:00

Kennel cough is rife in my area at the moment apparently. Even affects vaccinated dogs according to the vet

vodkaredbullgirl · 01/08/2021 20:01

Could be something up their nose, kennel cough, allergies. Ring the vet in the morning.

Thisisthewaywego · 01/08/2021 20:15

Ring the vet as it could be kennel cough or hayfever - my dog had the latter years ago and was prescribed a human antihistamine medicine.

Please don’t fall down the Covid-is-the-cause-of-every-symptom rabbit hole. And shoving those sticks up a dog’s nose and throat is just asking to be bitten, or at very least cause unnecessary distress to the animal.

Greenrubber · 01/08/2021 20:18

I don't think your dog would appreciate swab up its nose

Imnothereforthedrama · 01/08/2021 20:22

Your not serious? If you are don’t be so bloody daft .

Crockof · 01/08/2021 20:22

Its not often I see something batty about Covid that is new but I've honestly never seen someone posting about testing their dog.
I'm sorry OP that's hilarious , but I don't think it's a good idea.

Sparklesocks · 01/08/2021 20:23

I imagine it would be quite distressing for animals

ZeroFuchsGiven · 01/08/2021 20:24

I've just done one on my goldfish, go for it you lunatic.

godmum56 · 01/08/2021 20:24

Please don't be so stupid, take him to the vet

FreshFreesias · 01/08/2021 20:24

Kennel cough.
Dogs do not transmit Covid. This is taking Covid hysteria too far.

FreshFreesias · 01/08/2021 20:26

If it is kennel cough, 2,of my dogs just had it and it’s everywhere at the moment.
Usually nothing to worry about and clears up without antibiotics.

CharlotteRose90 · 01/08/2021 20:27

Another vote for kennel cough. Keep the dog In don’t spread it to other dogs

iklboo · 01/08/2021 20:31

Okaaaaaayyyyy
