To be glad cat killer has been jailed

Am so pleased to see that the Brighton cat killer has been jailed for five years.

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9843607/Brighton-cat-killer-jailed-five-years-ex-Navy-gunner-guilty-killing-nine-cats.html

I know not everyone likes cats, but I don’t think IBU to think that you don’t go killing or maiming them. Feel so sorry for the owners who lost their cats or had to deal with horrific injuries.

He should get a life sentence.

Ian Brady started off by torturing cats and look where that led.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 30/07/2021 17:15

There has been a cat killer up here in a tiny local village in Scotland too. I think they were poisoned with antifreeze. Sad

Evil.

thefourgp · 30/07/2021 17:16

I genuinely think he’s a serial killer (of humans) in the making. I feel so sorry for those poor cats and their owners.

fantasmasgoria1 · 30/07/2021 17:17

Put him in front of a couple tigers see how he feels about cats then.

Sundancerintherain · 30/07/2021 17:18

Psychopath.
He will kill again if he gets the chance.

kowari · 30/07/2021 17:22

5 years isn't long enough. He should be monitored closely on release to make sure he doesn't do similar again or commit worse crimes. Anyone who can torture or kill animals for kicks is a sick and dangerous individual.

RedLemonadeNTaytos · 30/07/2021 17:34

I thought there was a very clear and well researched link between people who torture and/or kill animals eventually moving on to humans (usually women or children)?

I hope there is some sort of plan to monitor him when he is released. He is clearly a very unwell, extremely dangerous man.

EmeraldShamrock · 30/07/2021 17:43

He is a cruel evil man who requires monitoring on release.

GetInThereLewis · 30/07/2021 17:43

Hope he gets what he deserves. Now time to spare a thought for the millions of innocent animals in barns, cages and slaughter houses. They suffer horrifically and we can stop funding this god fucking awful industry.

TheSockMonster · 30/07/2021 17:49

What he did was beyond awful. What he would have potentially moved onto is terrifying.

I assume, since there did not appear to be a mental health related defence, that he did it simply because he enjoyed killing them.

WheyHey · 30/07/2021 17:52

Good

SueSaid · 30/07/2021 17:55

Couldn't care less about cats particularly but abhor animal cruelty.

This would surely have escalated though, the kind of psychopath that enjoys killing defenceless animals should not be out walking the streets.

Furries · 30/07/2021 18:11

I’m really hoping that the 3% who have voted I’m unreasonable have done so because they think the sentence isn’t long enough.

If not, there are some questionable people on here!

I agree with others. I hope that the cancer gets him just before he is due to be released. And, if not, that he is monitored when he leaves prison - can easily see him escalating.

It’s weird, isn’t it, how some people look plain evil. The photo of him sends shivers down my spine.

Would honestly support the death penalty for the scumbag.

DeathByWalkies · 30/07/2021 18:20

@DismantledKing

In that article it says that he has thyroid cancer that has spread to his liver and lungs. Looks like that five years might be a life sentence then. Good.
I hope that all the prisoners on his wing are cat lovers and the prison healthcare service is short-staffed and slow to act.

I have no doubt that he would have moved onto humans - probably women - if he wasn't caught.

NiceGerbil · 30/07/2021 18:22

Great news.

Also hope he was the one killing other animals.

ShitPoetryClub · 30/07/2021 19:12

Awful. Also terrifying that he was in the Navy and previously had access to weapons.

EishetChayil · 30/07/2021 19:14

Bastard. Deserves longer.

EmeraldShamrock · 30/07/2021 23:15

I don't think it would take this sicko long to move onto a human, most likely a woman being physically weaker.
Thankfully the neighbours set up cctv.
The stories from the families were awful.

NiceGerbil · 30/07/2021 23:25

The report said after they had the film it still took a year to prosecute and the way it's phrased seemed to imply this seemed like surprisingly long.

MrsTerryPratchett · 30/07/2021 23:36

It's a circular thing.

I worked with serious ex-offenders and there were a few ex-military. It's chicken and egg. Did their lack of empathy lead to a career with the risk of killing and death? Or did the trauma of doing the job lead to the offending?

Five years is a lot when rapists and child abusers sometimes don't get that. There's a very serious public safety issue with this one as well as the animal cruelty.

Quick update on this. Did anyone see the ITV documentary last week regarding this case? It was called How to Catch a Cat Killer.

Was interesting seeing the evidence build up, but he still kept denying it was him.

He died in January this year, so only served 6 months of his sentence.

Scianel · 18/06/2022 11:51

I hope the death was painful.

@VanillaIce1

Is this the man who was killing cats all over that the police lied and said it was foxes I hope it is. I had the sad chance of finding two of the cats he done and I won't go into it as it's so sad but no it wasn't foxes unless carried sharp knives.
No, this is the Brighton Cat Killer.

The Croydon Cat Killer that became the UK Cat Killer is still travelling about and killing pets, including rabbits and foxes if they are about. That is the one the Police decided didn't exist because they were unable to catch him and didn't want to be seen to fail. 3 cats were killed near me recently in spite of the man not existing.

It's less than 45 minutes' drive from Brighton to Croydon. It takes longer than that to get from Madeira Drive to Ditchling in rush hour. That's not to say there aren't other sick fucks out there, but he's vastly more likely to have been doing it further away from home first before getting comfortable with how he'd been described as 'a fox' by the idiots from the local Plod who didn't really give a shit in the first place.

Excellent news. Karma came for the scum.
