...DS needs to take black trousers as part of his costume as the narrator, when the school uniform is dark grey trousers. Why can't the narrator wear GREY trousers for goodness sake !

It's always something you haven't already got, isn't it!

Dd had to have a red polo shirt last year (when the uniform is blue), and a yellow t-shirt the year before. And have you ever tried getting hold of a yellow t-shirt in the winter?

I await with bated breath the instructions for this year ...

If DS hasn't got a pair of black ones, tell the school that and say their narrator will be wearing uniform trousers this year!

(I think they do it on purpose )

I can only sympathise. Your thread has reminded me to ask my dds what they will be wearing for their school Christmas performance this year. DD1 has helpfully said she has no idea, whilst dd2 has said she is going to be a shepherd and doesn't know what they're supposed to wear (only that the school won't be providing costumes).
Very helpful..?

It is annoying, but just be grateful that your DS has the glory of being the narrator and will be seen. My DD1 is a guest in the inn at Bethlehem and her part involves lying on the floor and not moving.

Lol at Patsy's dd's starring role!

Last year my DS2's class did Grease. He was asked to bring in black jeans, a white t-shirt and a black leather jacket or failing that a black, shiny, bomber jacket ..... parents were notified of these requirements about 3 days before the dress rehearsal. Grrrr.

My son was a wolf so I bought black joggers specially. He put them on the other day and they are now too small. Worn all of twice.

Luckily we do have some, but by the time they have been stuffed in & out of a carrier bag several times prior to the performances, they will be fit for nothing!

..sneaking a word in quietly... I am a teacher (not primary but helping our primary lot with their play)... I think you should suggest the school trousers. From my experience teachers tend not to suggest school uniform as the children don't want to wear it. They want to dress up. But i agree that a lot of it is rahter silly. We revisit old plays every 6 or so years and we keep most of the awkward stuff. My friend who is doing our school play has trawled charity shops herself for waist coats that look woolly for the shepherds ... and i am tonight cutting out and sewing FOUR sheep costumes. My daughter is one and they have to be able to jive in these things....
....the glory of christmas...
