Following on from a thread I read earlier..

What's the most scariest life event you've been through?

Mine would be a stroke at 25 years old.

OP posts:

Being sexually abused for many year.
Not being believed.

The person apologising for what he done.

My mother rejecting me.

My dad having cancer/looking after him/him dying.

Getting a call from the police that my daughter had been attacked .

My grandchild almost being taken away.

Chickychickydodah · 29/07/2021 17:33

When my ex h tried to scare me again by putting a shotgun in my face on Christmas Day because I wanted to see my parents.

HopeYourHighHorseBucks · 29/07/2021 17:34

Some of these experiences are awful. So sorry to everyone Flowers

My ones aren't like any of these but still make my chest go tight thinking of it. Being a teen and seeing my DM run across the road to our doctors with my baby sibling in her arms, barely breathing and not moving. Had to stay in hospital and needed oxygen etc. My DM was a wreck.

Practically racing a snarling dog who was headed straight towards my DD at the park. I spotted it and saw it stalking my DD. No owner about. I cut in front of it because I knew there was no way i could out run it. I distracted it long enough for its owner to come round the corner. My DD was oblivious to it and asked me if I had fun with the doggy Star

My dad had a cardiac arrest, he was resuscitated, and placed in a coma. As they tried to bring him back I was there stroking his face gently, talking to him calmly and he started to move, and all my attention was on his face looking for any signs of recognition or response to his environment… when his eyes flicked opened, face contorted and his eyes rolled back into his head and his arms went straight up into the air, body stiff and convulsing, in a grande mal siezure. People came running, I was pushed out side the curtain. Just horrendous, he was such a gentle loving man and would feel awful to have frightened me. I’m better now but so frightened then.

PhoboPhobia · 29/07/2021 17:45

Being told I had to have emergency c section as DDs heart rate had slowed so much. Then coming round from the anaesthetic and seeing DHs pale and terrified looking face. I was just absolutely convinced DD had died. She was very poorly but thankfully made a full recovery and is now 22.

CharlotteRose90 · 29/07/2021 17:47

Getting told at 28 I had a rare blood disorder that’s incurable. Over 70 blood transfusions and a round of chemotherapy kicked it into remission but the fucker will be back.

fuckingsickofcovid · 29/07/2021 17:51

Being followed home when I was 16 by a man, who then got hold of my wrists and tried to drag me off, luckily my sister was just leaving and saw him and chased him off, but the police never did anything and I never dared walk that way again, it took me ages to walk home alone again, I still don't like it now.

santabetterwashhishands · 29/07/2021 18:07

Answering the phone to hear my severely autistic son had been in a motorway crash on his way to school 😢
Then having to drive to the wreckage to make sure he was ok (non verbal so he couldn't tell them if he was hurt).
The relief when I saw him and could hug him was immensely overwhelming x

Ohbuggeroffcovid · 29/07/2021 18:10

There are a few.

Being anally raped by my exhusband. He whispered in my ear he would hurt ds if I didn’t shut up and lie still. I bit down on the pillow so hard I made my mouth bleed.

A few years later he left the country while ds was in his custody. I thought he had taken him. I had to file a missing persons report. He had dumped him on a relative. I was tearing my hair out.

Dd having a fit, I was screaming help me down the phone to the ambulance. She was going blue.

Being in a six car pile up, the cars just kept careering into me.

Flowers to all those who have had so much worse than me.

NotMeekNotObedient · 29/07/2021 18:19

Having an adverse reaction to a newly prescribed drug - it caused panic attacks and just happened to hit while scuba diving. We were deep, luckily I had two very advanced rescue divers with me, they held me down, watches bleeping, while I tried to struggle out of their grip to get to the surface, didn't matter that I had a regulator in, I felt like I was drowning. My DH thought I was going to die, I almost emptied my whole tank in those few minutes. Too scared to dive now and I loved it.

Getting attacked on the street, freezing, feeling my clothes get ripped. Luckily disturbed by a young couple walking the same way. I was 18 and alone in a strange country. I still have nightmares of the man's face.

Waking up after missing the call to say my mum had taken a turn for the worst. Listening to the voicemail. Got to the hospital 5 mins too late. She had cancer but really thought she had more time left.

FrasierCraneDay · 29/07/2021 18:22

Being raped repeatedly for about 18 months, I've managed to block a lot of it out but being raped with a knife and left for dead will not leave me.

SquirrelNutkins2000 · 29/07/2021 18:24

My son not breathing when he was born, he had to be helped to breath. Was only for a few minutes but definitely the scariest moment of my entire life. Now he's a very happy & healthy 2 year old.

SquirrelNutkins2000 · 29/07/2021 18:26

@peachgreen, I'm so so sorry. Sending you love & squishy hugs 🤗 🤗 🤗

user8879000 · 29/07/2021 18:27

Been told I had cancer just as we went into lockdown and told by my consultant he didn't know when I would receive further tests/treatment.
I felt so scared and helpless.
In the end I only had to wait a month but the thought of it been longer and the cancer spreading was the hardest scariest thing ever.

legoagain · 29/07/2021 18:34

When my DS, who was a few days old, was in PICU (with a heart condition) and we were told his other organs were starting to fail. He is now fine and bouncing on the trampoline.

Tiddleandplonk · 29/07/2021 18:50

Being deliberately locked in a house by my abuser . I was 9. Terror.
My dd chokimg when a lolly got stuck in her throat.
My ds ,only a toddler running out of the shop when i took my eyes off him for a second. Imagining he had been knocked down.
Being assaulted in the counyryside on way to work
Being date raped by an asian man. He was all charm then it was ' my fault ' that he qas going to do what he did as Ied him.on by not being demure and being covered. He said i would.not get home if i did not give in .

Fluer3 · 29/07/2021 18:57

Car crash when I was 5. Dark country roads and the middle of winter we just skidded right off the road and down an embankment. I remember my DM shrieking and then spinning over and over my head hitting the roof of the car.
It’s just flashes after that, we stopped on something but the car was on its side. DM trying to force her door open but gravity kept closing it she kept shouting help but no one was there. Every now and then the car would move a few inches and creak. Whatever holding up wasn’t going to hold long. She scrunched up my jumper into her teeth carrying me and we were nose to nose as she climbed up that embankment on her hands and knees. I wrapped my arms and legs around her and cried. I don’t remember reaching the top. She saved us that day my dear dear DM.

Somethingsnappy · 29/07/2021 18:58

These are hard to read. I'm sorry for what you have all been through.

JellyNellie · 29/07/2021 20:08

I've a few but I'll just say a few...

When my partner first passed his driving test I'd put our 13week old baby in the middle for some unknown reason and decided to sit in the front, some how we hit a pot hole on a Aroad and the car flipped on its side missing a big Oak tree by inches,I was left stuck on the air I managed to kick the car door open partner claimed over me jumped out the car and pulled it back down onto four wheels I could help but think the worse about my baby!! I jumped out the car to the back and there she was smiling at me like nothing had happened🤷🏻‍♀️ I'll forever be greatful to the elderly couple that took me and my DD home that day!! (All of us walked away)

My second one would be when I was 11year old I was molested by best friend's brother in my own bed!!I'd told me mother a few days later who grounded me and said I was wrong to lie about such serious crimes,he apologized to me via Facebook the day I gave birth to my first child!! 7years later! I now live with no epileptic attack disorder due to this man's actions while he lives a comfortable life with his 4 children & wife!!

Queenie6655 · 29/07/2021 20:19

Oh sweet lord these are shocking

Sending love to you all

Two terrible things happened in my lifetime

My cousin died abroad and we had to go find him and bring his body home 😢😢😢

My bastard ex H took me to a room one morning to kill me
He was perfectly calm about it and talked through his plans
My two kids were at the door shouting when he went to finally do it and that stopped the mad bastard

Beckhamsmetatarsal · 29/07/2021 20:44

Being strangled by my dad, more than once but the last time I remember he did it, it felt longer than usual and he lifted me off the ground.

maddiemookins16mum · 29/07/2021 21:30

Mine is nothing as horrendous as some of these….losing my DD in Ealing Broadway shopping, I was at the till paying, turned round….gone. The fear, panic and pure terror I felt for the next 10 minutes I’ll never forget.

AwaAnBileYerHeid · 29/07/2021 21:32

@Sparklesocks

Being in a (licensed) minicab after a night out with some friends and the driver got lost, started crying and driving erratically round the streets in circles at top speeds saying he was going to kill himself. We had to call 999 from the car and have the operator talk him down.
Instantly though of Davie the bus driver in Still Game!

Sorry this happened to you, must have been scary.

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 29/07/2021 21:49

Having serious pneumonia when DD1 was only 9 weeks old, I honestly thought I was going to die, I couldn’t breath it was awful. Spent a few days in HDU on cpap hoping it worked as the alternative was induced coma to get my levels back up. Took a further 2 years before I could climb stairs etc without being breathless.

Serious road crash as a teen, I don’t remember the actual collision as I was knocked unconscious but I remember the lead up to it and then being shaken by my dad screaming my name. The realisation that the door was on top of my leg and I couldn’t move and having to be cut out of the car, and the long road to recovery which was really hard as a teen girl, still have pains in my leg now and probably always will.

Thinking DD3 had gone missing from the front garden. Spent ages looking for her and shouting on her, up and down the cul de sac when I decided to check inside and she was in our room behind the door! That’s time felt like eternity though

PinguTheLion · 29/07/2021 21:51

When i was 16 i worked at an equestrian centre and was living in the on-site bungalow. Usually there were 3-4 of us living there but i was there alone that night.
The bungalow was having work done on it at the time so i would watch tv in there but sleep in a caravan on the other side of the yard.
About 9pm I turned tv off and walked over to the caravan, just got into bed and the caravan lit up red. I looked out the window and saw a car next to the tack room and 4 men jump out the car.
I rang the police on my mobile and was trying to call the yard owner on another phone (who also lived on site but up the other end so wouldn't have seen or heard anything). Yard owner didn't answer and by the time the police arrived the men had given up trying to get into the tack room and left.

I remember being quite calm when it was happening but watching the footage of it from the cctv sent me into shock because the men were heavily armed. The police told me it was probably sheer luck i left the bungalow when i did because if i had walked out when they were there I probably would have been attacked.

I still get flashbacks now seeing them walking around with crow bars etc
