I'll start:

The video shop - ahh the days of a walk to the video shop, peruse the same old films, pick one, pick a choc bar (just one small bar) and home to the betamax machine!!
Channels 1 to 4 - So many less arguments when quite simply there was only ever one thing to watch!

@SmashingBlouson

There must be something nostalgic about Sunday nights - I was just wondering what has happened to East 17 and wondered if they are rich from Stay Another Day royalties.

Can I add Fuse, Echo and Secret Bars? Heartbreak High and My So Called Life? Cavities Zester biscuits (I think that was what they were called, they had orange peel in)

As you can tell, I was a teen in the 90's.

Brian Harvey is on tik tok and YouTube and he's far from rich. Look him up. Wonder where it all went wrong for him

@bambooelectrictoothbrushhead

Flex conditioner, cabana bars, Metal Mickey fizz bombs and Ultima Sheerscent perfume
Cabana bars, did the have coconut, cherry and bits of pineapple in?
MissyB1 · 25/07/2021 21:49

The Generation Game - with Bruce Forsyth
Lincoln biscuits.
Proper Winters with frost and snow.
Cottage hospitals.

SmashingBlouson · 25/07/2021 21:49

Thanks all, never got around to looking it up and not sure how my mind got onto wondering what happened to East 17!

Can I also bring my pre-kids body, brain and social life back? That's what I miss the most.

DrCoconut · 25/07/2021 21:50

Toys in your cereal.

Tiramiwho · 25/07/2021 21:51

"Beer"shampoo in the late 70's.
It came in a little plastic barrel. Also the original Apple shampoo, not sure who made it. Had our baths on a Saturday night ( before Starsky & Hutch came on ) and our heads smelled like an orchard 'till Wednesday 😄

3totheright4totheleft · 25/07/2021 21:53

Saturday nights. Blind Date, Bergerac, Murder She Wrote. Also That's Life on a Sunday. My parents hated it and hid in the kitchen while I watched it.

PopcornMuncher · 25/07/2021 21:57

Oh yes tirami, that apple smelling shampoo - was it called woodleigh green or something?

Creamola foam

icedcoffees · 25/07/2021 21:58

Smarties with all the artificial colours (especially the blue ones).
Top of the Pops.
Shows like Sweet Valley Twins/Sweet Valley High.
Fizzy drinks without all the sugar and flavourings removed.
Dairy Milk before the recipe changed.

They still exist but I would be gutted to lose book shops. I still buy too many from Amazon, but there’s something so lovely about going and buying a book then heading straight to a coffee shop or small cafe to start reading it.

Alternista · 25/07/2021 22:03

Gladiators and Sainsbury’s cherry almond shampoo.

SquirrelFan · 25/07/2021 22:03

A Schwarzkopf shampoo that smelled just like a gin and tonic - so refreshing first thing in the morning!
Snapple Cherry Lime Rickey.

FangsForTheMemory · 25/07/2021 22:03

I'm with @laiste, I loved that Vidal Sassoon shampoo and was bereft when they stopped selling it.

Also Fry's five centres chocolate bars.

ConstantlySeekingHappiness · 25/07/2021 22:03

Mars Delight

And Mingles

FangsForTheMemory · 25/07/2021 22:04

@EssentialHummus Ah, the big one. Not in my lifetime, I fear.

monstermunch1 · 25/07/2021 22:05

ahhhhhh Blind date!!!
And what about Body shop bath balls and the little shaped soaps!

Also if I could bring back the days before the internet was entertaining/addictive, I'd even sacrifice Mumsnet.

iamtopazmortmain · 25/07/2021 22:07

Toast Toppers - especially the ham and cheese one.

Spangles.

Spending the weekend staying at my grandparents watching Russ Abbot on TV in the evening and Little House on the Prairie or the Waltons on Saturday morning.

Being a size 10.

Ice lollies from the ice cream man in the shape of a teddy bear.

TokyoSushi · 25/07/2021 22:10

Definitely a Spira, why on earth were they discontinued?!

Cupoftea53 · 25/07/2021 22:14

Saturday night TV
Basic tv channels and appointment TV. The endless choice causes way too many arguments! We used to read or play a game if there was nothing on.

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 25/07/2021 22:14

Definitely the Burger King Mushroom Double Swiss.

Also cans of Quatro and Novos (chocolatey, oaty bars from the 80s)

Unfashionable · 25/07/2021 22:14

The 1997-2002 Labour government, which was by far the best in my lifetime. It was all going so well for 🇬🇧 until Blair lost his mind & invaded Iraq, and apart from the London Olympics, it’s all been downhill since.

Geamhradh · 25/07/2021 22:18

Avon Moonwind
Avon catalogues with random shaped perfume bottles and fancy soaps
Body Shop Cocoa Butter body butter
Woolworths
David Tennant and Catherine Tate in the Tardis
