Bouncy castle in the street

Hi,

I live in a street that is blocked off half way by bollards, it has a widening to allow cars to turn around. We do not have front gardens, it's terraced housing.

We park our cars directly outside of our house.

Neighbour (many, many issues with this neighbour) has now set up a huge bouncy castle in the middle of the road.

I can just about turn my car around to get out of the street, although with great difficulty and also with the risk of hitting a child as there is now about 15 of them in the middle of the road.

Anyone parked further up would struggle to actually get their car out.

Is this even legal? We have decent sized yards?? I don't understand why it needs to be in the middle of an actual road. It's so dangerous!

I sound like a party pooper, I have a DS and I wouldn't feel comfortable doing this, no adults are constantly with the children, they're in/out their houses and it's just so worrying.

Am I just a party pooper or am I right to be concerned about this?

Neighbour 4 doors up has kicked off threatening to ring the police. Neighbours who have the bouncy castle just shouted obscenities at him.

This is all very Phoenix Nights. Bouncing out onto tarmac - that will end well.

Iwantcauliflowercheese · 24/07/2021 12:01

The road needs to be clear for fire engines and ambulances. Totally illegal. Waiting eagerly for an update OP.

I’d definitely call the police! It’s dangerous and obstructive. I can’t believe anyone would do such a thing let alone be surprised when police show up!

CurryLover55 · 24/07/2021 12:05

People can be so selfish & inconsiderate! Plus that’s just idiotic! Definitely get the police involved & hope they move house soon!

AlbusSeverusMalfoy · 24/07/2021 12:07

Can we see a picture if possible? It's sounds annoying but funny at the same time

memberofthewedding · 24/07/2021 12:09

I dont normally agree with informing on neighbours but this is a potentially very dangerous situation and your NDNs need to be pulled up short by someone in authority. I remember the news incident about the child killed in the castle that blew away.

As for someone leaving a large inflatable object like a bouncy castle or inflatable pool over night in the public street wouldnt it be a great shame if it were damaged and the party who hired it had to pay out!

Health and safety would have a field day

MyOtherProfile · 24/07/2021 12:12

Your neighbors know how to make themselves popular!

Pinkflipflop85 · 24/07/2021 12:13

I'm pretty laid back about a lot of things (I like to think) but this is just ridiculous. Blocking the road aside, the set up sounds extremely dangerous.

Iluvfriends · 24/07/2021 12:13

What type of parent thinks this is ok.

Queynte13 · 24/07/2021 12:16

@Iluvfriends

What type of parent thinks this is ok.
The type that are cunts.
drpet49 · 24/07/2021 12:17

* It’s illegal. You have to have permission from council to have street parties or block any part of the road.*

^This. I would call the police. It is dangerous and illegal.

FenceSplinters · 24/07/2021 12:20

I hadn’t thought about access for emergency vehicles - that alone must be enough to mean it has to go. What have the police said?

NotSorry · 24/07/2021 12:20

It won't be funny is someone gets hurt
sergeilavrov · 24/07/2021 12:21

Don’t feel bad for reporting it: that child’s birthday would be a lot worse if they get hit by a car and killed or seriously injured because of their parent’s stupidity.

Gilmorehill · 24/07/2021 12:22

You can’t just erect things in the middle of a public road. Call 101. It’s a ridiculous thing to do.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 24/07/2021 12:22

dreadful

lastcall · 24/07/2021 12:23

Wow! Hope the police show up and fine everyone involved!

Sally872 · 24/07/2021 12:25

I can't believe they would block drive and prevent a neighbour getting to work! Awful.

careerchangeperhaps · 24/07/2021 12:25

I'd be very suspicious of the company who erected it. No decent bouncy castle operator would do that knowing that they don't have the council / landowner's permission and also the safety aspect (wind and traffic).

It probably wasn't a company. Anyone can buy a bouncy castle.
daphnedoo12 · 24/07/2021 12:28

I wouldn't put a picture up, not only is it outing but there's kids on it. Even if I blanked them out it's just weird and inappropriate. I don't think it's funny either.

What selfish wankers, glad you are reporting them

onelittlefrog · 24/07/2021 12:30

Umm no, obviously you can't just put a bouncy castle in the middle of a public road.

I would ring the police - sounds like these neighbours are thoroughly unpleasant if they shout abuse at people.

They won't listen to you and be civil, so ring the police and tell them they are blocking a public road and also putting children at risk.

newnortherner111 · 24/07/2021 12:30

Let us know the police response.

I agree about no photos.
