I'm not a fan of the grey windows plus smooth white rendering look. It all looks like the kind of CGI image you'd get in a brochure when buying a house off plan.

pilates · 21/07/2021 22:00

Yes they are starting to look dated

Defiantly41 · 21/07/2021 22:03

Will date very quickly now

DaisyBooToo · 21/07/2021 22:03

My parents have them (next street to me same style of house) looks lovely but I prefer mine that are white. All down to personal taste. They don’t look dirty I suppose so less maintenance.

imayhavelostmymarbles · 21/07/2021 22:04

I am reading this with interest as about to do our windows.
Not sure about white though? Especially as front of house is partially rendered (looks better than that sounds!)

TheDeckchairGardener · 21/07/2021 22:04

YANBU, I think they will look dated in the future. I need to replace my windows soon and have decided to stick to the classic white (I think they will be cheaper than other colours too which is a bonus)!

user1471530109 · 21/07/2021 22:05

What about the agate grey look? I'm about to order them....pale sandy coloured bricks...Confused

Sh05 · 21/07/2021 22:09

If you do go for grey then make sure it's the charcoal shade or there's a neighbour in our street who has black frames. They look much smarter than grey which looks faded.
We stuck to white though as I felt grey starts to look old alot quicker

Darbs76 · 21/07/2021 22:10

It will date quickly, stick with white

Ivy48 · 21/07/2021 22:11

I love them however I think they’ll be like the light oak effect ones that were poplar 10/15 years ago that now look dated. Every fad has its time. I’d go white personally. Can always get a grey door etc

pleasepuddinghot · 21/07/2021 22:12

Some local to me look very dated and also quite dark depending what direction your house faces.

OhNoNoNoNoNo · 21/07/2021 22:17

I have a neutral grey-brown colour. I chose them because I thought grey-grey will date. My rendering is a soft off-white so the whole affect is less stark than grey windows and white rendering.

Lindy2 · 21/07/2021 22:20

Gray will look dated very quickly.

White is timeless.

Overoptimistix · 21/07/2021 22:25

We have anthracite, they were replacements for brown ones and I couldn't quite bring myself to do brown but the white ones that others have used look a bit stark and tacky.

Dixiechickonhols · 21/07/2021 22:31

Will date very quickly like brown did. I saw a cottage with a light greenish they looked nice.

ThinWomansBrain · 21/07/2021 22:34

I prefer glass windows.

StarCandle · 21/07/2021 22:35

I think the grey movement will end long before the windows are ready to be replaced, so I'd stick to classic white.

StarCandle · 21/07/2021 22:39

What's the era/age of the house? That makes a big difference. if it's an older property (ie houses from 1900-1940 were often partially rendered, ie Edwardian, or 20s/30s houses) then I don't think they suit any other colour than white windows, personally.
ThePinkBush · 21/07/2021 22:41

It depends. Cheap looking chunky upvc in grey on an older house looks a bit naff and mismatched. Expensive looking slim grey frames on a modern house look very cool imo.

EastWestWhosBest · 21/07/2021 22:44

I’ve got grey windows and I like them.
I give not one fuck for people thinking they look dated.

minipie · 21/07/2021 22:46

I like a pale greeny grey or beigey stone colour on the right house.

Not a huge fan of anthracite, especially on Edwardian or earlier houses.

OhGiveUp · 21/07/2021 22:47

Grey reminds me of office blocks and prisons. Sorry.

Depends on the style of your house? I think any colour can potentially look good if the house was designed and built with that colour window. You have to be a lot more careful if you’re not replacing like with like

Hotelhelp · 21/07/2021 22:52

We have them and I am really pleased with them but I think I’d get white in next house just because I know they will eventually look so dated (yes I know they do already in someone peoples opinion!
