Face masks

Having just read a thread about someone asking AIBU to ditch my face mask now that it is no longer the law I am not surprised that there are a few people out there who need it set in stone, in law to do the right thing. Even after we are encouraged, advised and expected to wear masks in crowded indoor spaces, they still think ‘it’s not the law’ so I will do what I want. They have no conscience or care for other the people they put at risk. The Government has made it our responsibility to think how we behave, could we not show them that we can act responsibly or do we really need to be bound by a law which I will lay bets on will be reinstated in the Autumn. As will vaccine passports to gain entry into crowded indoor venues.

There needs to be a traffic light approach to masks.
Green - don’t need to wear low risk
Amber- you decide
Red- wear your mask

I’ve not worn one since last Friday as I went on holiday and in this heat there’s no way I could wear one. I have no intention of wearing one again unless cases rise considerably and we are on a lockdown.

@SchrodingersImmigrant haha, oh I am an idiot 😂 clearly meant test and trace! Thanks for the heads up (I'll definitely continue to use Royal Mail!)

It's a really common mistake🙈 I just couldn't resist

Give it a few weeks and less and less people will wear them.

At the start everyone was militant about how serious covid is and now there are threads everywhere about deleting the app - people would have been flamed as selfish for that a year ago. Give it a month or 2 and hardly anyone will wear masks in shops voluntarily.

In addition to the link I just posted, I and many others who wear glasses are unable to do so with masks due to the fogging issue. This moisture mostly evaporates off between each breath so must be entering the surrounding air regardless. Given enough time I would imaging that any moisture from a cough or sneeze inside the mask would also evaporate off into the air.

I used to get the fogging issue on a cold day when I was wearing an ill-fitting mask, but when I changed mask type I found the problem largely went away.
England are almost like an experiment for ditching face masks, whatever our individual opinions, we will find out in a few weeks whether masks are needed or not through their results.
