AIBU to enlighten my new neighbour?

I have a new neighbour, she seems lovely but we have only said hello in the passing due to covid and the fact that I have been working from home and only leave the house to take the dog out and have enjoyed becoming a hermit, buuuuut, She appears to have left her washing out overnight and it's been DARKED ON!!!!

Should I pop a note through her door to let her know the grievous mistake she has made so she may never do it again? I mean spiders will definitely have rubbed their willies on the washing overnight!!

I was thinking of ,

"Dear neighbour, I don't think you know the "rules", your washing has been darked on and spider Willie's will have been rubbed on your clothes, please rewash or burn them immediately, with love from the neighbour next door who you never see and you must worry if she's been eaten by Rottweilers "

Good enough?

Just cut out the middle man and torch them with your flame thrower Grin I’m sure she will thank you with wine and homemade cake.

Cattitudes · 20/07/2021 07:05

If she has a husband that could be us. After nearly 48hrs hogging the washing machine his clothes finally went out last night. Spider Willies on his clothes are not my problem. With the shorter darked on period and the heat last night I am hoping that his will be dry and I can tackle the backlog.

DufferMum · 20/07/2021 07:12

I am away on my own for a week with work.
I left some washing out to be darked on for all 7 nights, if I know DH.
I expect I will have to LTB!

BluebellsareBlue · 20/07/2021 07:12

@Splann good idea! I have one of those weed burner thingys, I can definitely reach over the fence if I stand on a ladder. She will thank me in the long run. I LOVE being a thoughtful neighbour!

@Cattitudes, no it's not you she is what appears to be an amazing single mum of a one year old smasher. Yeah spider Willie's on my DP's clothes wouldn't be my problem either.

What's covid got to do with this!? 😂 people's paranoia is hilarious. Just chat to your neighbour for God's sake!!

Due to covid meaning I have been working from home so rarely leave the house unless I have to and turning up at her door with a welcome gift in the middle of the pandemic and lock down didn't seem such a particularly neighbourly thing to do. She also works and therefore I don't see her often just a hi over the fence if I'm going out with the dog and she's heading to work.

There's no paranoia here, in fact after 24 years as a frontline cop (and now retired to work for a major supermarket) I have zero paranoia...... Hmm

I feel talking to your NDN about spider willies in her washing may get you a welfare check from the authorities Grin (Unless she's a MNer!)

It's good you are looking out for her but you'll need to do it from afar... listen out for the screams as she brings it in...

Coldilox · 20/07/2021 08:19

I think I might be your neighbour.

I happen to like spider willies, thankyouverymuch

Treaclepie19 · 20/07/2021 08:23

I think you'd be unreasonable not to warn her!

Mydogisagentleman · 20/07/2021 08:26

My NDN but two, so next door to Derek and Sandra, has had her children’s clothes out for 2 days and nights. Poor kiddies. She is definitely negligent.
I am sure that in between 14 hour shifts at the local hospital she could set aside 5 minutes to bring it all in.
Unless it’s a different load. I need to involve D+S, they know everything that happens

You NEED to get D&S involved! It's a matter of most urgency! I can't believe your NND (but 2) thinks saving lives should be put above washing that's DARKED ON!!

I noticed early this morning next door had left hers out. First thing I thought was, Oh the spider willy's, poor woman.

I did actually inform my neighbour of this fact a little while ago, after she left her washing out over night.

I’m pretty sure the whole street now think I’m a total loon…. Blush

Orgasmagorical · 20/07/2021 09:37

Has anyone else noticed the thing with the shopping separator thingy in the supermarket doesn't work so well with social distancing? Sad

OhGiveUp · 20/07/2021 09:42

Dear God, she's letting the entire neighbourhood down. The next thing you know she'll be telling you that she uses a toilet brush!!
Next time she leaves her washing out to be darked on, the only course of action is to wait until she goes to bed and then cut the line, repeat on every offence until she learns.
It's the only way!

I know!! I feel it is my duty to the neighbourhood to do exactly as you have suggested!! I shall leave the garden shears accessible and the step ladder next to the fence!!

(Although my garden resembles something out of American hoarders programmes due to DS's fishing gear so she probably thinks she lives next to very, very uncouth people and is prob posting an AIBU of her own suggesting she burns my garden)

I love spider willies. My washing was darked on last night as I completely forgot to bring it in.Sometimes I leave it on purpose but I know how much it winds up the stick up her bum NDN.

MostlyMaple · 20/07/2021 10:12

@BluebellsareBlue ahh, I see - I apologise! Now you've explained it I totally get why you haven't had much chance to speak to her.

I read it as though you were too paranoid to speak to her over the fence for fear of catching covid.

Sorry!!
