WITH RE TO CHRISTMAS to sigh and feel very tired at the thought of buying/affording even basic presents, wrapping them, writing all the cards, delivering everything, arranging concert clothes, buying in all the food etc etc on top of normal life...

Bollocks to the cards.
Waste of time.
Wrap a couple of pressies every night.
Buy in yer non perishables bit by bit.
Remember Christmas dinner is nowt but a regular Sunday roast with addition of a pud.

kikismummy · 25/11/2007 22:07

I feel the same, theres so much to do, my hubby is away working so i have to do it all on my own this year. the babaies are so young they wouldnt undestand if it didnt happen at all but i would feel really mean lol

Boysandbeaches · 25/11/2007 22:10

ARGH - put like that, it is VERY scary . I am off to buy our tree, this week and have had presents in, since August. Finances must. Can you hand out lists to your DH/DP? Go on line and order the whole thing? I did the cards with Kodakgallery and even put the message in - cheat, cheat, cheat and then, get the wine out .

colditz · 25/11/2007 22:11

Bollocks to cards. Anyone you really like you'll ring anyway. Tell them you are going Ecofriendly.

Presents - wrap as you buy. Don't put them away when you get them in, and wrap them once the kids are in bed.

Christmas dinner is only a roast, that's all it is.Ask anyone coming to do bit - have one person brting stuffing, another brandy butter, and another chipolatas etc

Boysandbeaches · 25/11/2007 22:11

LOL - moondog. Move countries - they wrap your pressies, here in Spain !

NoBiggy · 25/11/2007 22:11

I don't enjoy Christmas half so much now I have to make it happen.

And now I understand why my mother is sick of it.

TINSELTOESmumofDJ · 25/11/2007 22:12

It is hard work when life is so busy..... Am struggling this year too. What I am doing now is marking slots in the calendar (even if its an hour here or there) for some quiet time for us all. I reckon its just as important as everything else if we are actually going to enjoy Christmas. I know that if I don't arrive at Christmas utterly frazzled then everyone else is going to enjoy it so much more. I made a choice late year that either we can do Christmas 'perfectly' or we can make do rather without me trying so hard. It was much more enjoyable for all

p.s. don't stress about Christmas cards. Friends and family won't hate you if you don't manage them and who cares about the rest?

Boysandbeaches · 25/11/2007 22:15

Start a family tradition - decorations only go up the week-end before Christmas and come down on/before 12th night !

TINSELTOESmumofDJ · 25/11/2007 22:17

welcome bad kitten

i think in essence the prob might be in part (and only in part) that on a night when my 2 little people have hit the hay i know I should be doing christmas things (and alot more besides)

but i want to have some me time and oh do something like erm, sit on mumsnet

is this unreasonable i ask

colditz · 25/11/2007 22:28

Ahhhh How funny!!!!!!

No, we are very very different, but in essence, you can only do so much, and other people will just have to like it or lump it, won't they!

It's my Christmas too, and I don't want to spend it flogging my guts out. helps than many previous years I have had to work all over Christmas, so have had to be organised.

TINSELTOESmumofDJ · 25/11/2007 22:33

i agree with you colditz ps, colditz youve got the scariest mumsnet name ive ever seen < as krissy runs away to hide behind the sofa> can i ask how did you choose that name! (being nosey feel free to say go away)

OP posts:
colditz · 25/11/2007 22:39

It's the nickname for the estate I live on - because it looks like Castle Colditz and is full of criminals.

TINSELTOESmumofDJ · 25/11/2007 22:46
