AIBU to think people with continual coughs shouldn’t be allowed in a restaurant at the moment and to be annoyed a restaurant allowed someone with a very obvious cough dine there?

I cough die to hay fever. My son is recovering from croup. My husband has asthma. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Lou98 · 15/07/2021 00:32

A continual cough is a Covid symptom.

It's a POSSIBLE covid symptom - people have coughs for all sorts of reasons: asthma, copd etc, these people know their coughs aren't a covid symptom (obviously can test to be sure).

I'm a dog groomer - I have what's known as "groomers lung" - essentially so much dog hair has got in my lungs over the year I have a regular cough, should myself and others with medical conditions etc not be allowed out in public?🤔

Can't work out if this thread is a wind up or not - surely you know that people have coughs and it not be covid?

name4change · 15/07/2021 00:32

have coughed for many a year, and will probably continue to do so for the rest of my life. Feel free to euthanise your own social life if you want but not mine. Had enough of your type the last 18 months.

XenoBitch · 15/07/2021 00:32

@rooarsome

I went out for a little walk in the park with my Dad and he was accosted by someone after he started to cough. He's got fucking advanced lung cancer.
Fucking hell.. so you you were outside and someone accosted you? I despair! I hope your dad didn't let it get to him too much.
Andrewsgirl · 15/07/2021 00:33

Bit of a difficult thing to establish though, whether it’s new or old cough !

My son has what is classed as a ‘continuous cough’ which is caused by asthma and hayfever. He is on a lot of medication but still had these coughing sessions.

He had a pcr test and was negative just to be on the same safe side as recommended by doctor so he could attend school.

Not every cough is Covid, if we stayed indoors because of his cough we would not leave the house between March and October!

DinosaurDuvet · 15/07/2021 00:33

Would the continuous cough not have to be new? I have asthma & hayfever, I have a continual cough unfortunately. Those type of coughs sound different too, to me anyway

Mummyoflittledragon · 15/07/2021 00:34

Fucking covid police offending people with illnesses, which have nothing to do with the virus wherever they go.

Maybe perhaps listen to the posters telling you you are BU.

It's not difficult to establish if it's something you're used to living with daily (as above medical conditions etc)

It's no different to you possibly being asymptotic - why are you allowed to go out but these people aren't?

Not for the person who has the cough.

They shouldn't have to explain their medical details to others.

sst1234 · 15/07/2021 00:38

Huh? Do you have these weird thoughts often OP?

Biancadelrioisback · 15/07/2021 00:38

Smoker here, I've been coughing continually for about 2 years.

EspressoDoubleShot · 15/07/2021 00:38

New continuous cough is the actual guidance.key is new
A chronic cough is a long term cough, underlying illness or condition

Not up for other people to decide and judge upon.

The only person that can tell the difference is the person with a cough, and it is not the business of anyone else.

MouseholeCat · 15/07/2021 00:41

I have a cough right now. It's caused by a combination of pregnancy-related reflux and congestion. Nothing at all to do with Covid.

My Dad coughs because he has asthma. Again, nothing at all to do with Covid.

If you don't like it, it's on you not to eat at restaurants.

vodkaredbullgirl · 15/07/2021 00:45

I have a cough, mine is due to smoking.

If I have suffered with acid reflux for years which causes me to cough it is not difficult for me to establish.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 15/07/2021 00:51

It's crazy isn't it?

I'm double vaccinated and I take a Covid test at the slightest sign of any symptoms, but I still feel paranoid every time I cough, because I know someone is wondering if I'm that bastard with Covid who insisted on going out to eat and infecting everyone. And probably a child-killer to boot.

Kanaloa · 15/07/2021 00:53

You do realise restaurant doors open both ways? If you were unhappy to sit next to someone coughing you could have left the restaurant.

Sugarplumfairy65 · 15/07/2021 00:54

I've got a continuous cough that I've had since I had chemotherapy and immunotherapy 3 years ago. I get frequent chest infections. Should I stay at home for the rest of my life?

You’re right. I’ll tell my friend whose husband has a terminal lung disease and coughs continuously they are not welcome in social places.

Is there something in the MN water? What is it with these weird threads?
I feel like we're back in 2020 again. Cases are rising and people are trying to figure out how to juggle outside life with all of it I suppose. Mn has definitely turned back the clock, have seen loads more covid threads very similar to the start of the pandemic
