OK, not in person, but I'm bloody loving 'Clarkson's Farm on Amazon Grin and look forward to an episode per night. I know he's a bit of a prick, but the programme is really watchable and I'll be sad when there's no more episodes.

What is getting you through?

One of my friends went to his farm shop on the way to London, queued for nearly 4 hours to get in, spent £120 but met Kaleb & JC, said it was really good I've watched 3 episodes up to now, I've always liked JC in Top Gear & The Grand Tour.

DogFacedWoman · 15/07/2021 01:40

@Iamnotminterested

Did I see an earlier poster saying there won't be a series 2 😔
No, they've said it's getting a 2nd series as it's one of the most watched shows ever on prime. I loved it. You see a very different side of JC which I really liked. Apart from this, I've been filling my time watching Inside Number 9. I'm enjoying it, but some episodes are a bit weak. On the whole, the good are way outweighing the bad.

It was me that said that. If you Google it, there are numerous reports of there not being a second series.

I live quite locally and went to the farm shop last December before the series was on the tv although they must have already filmed it. We were the only ones in the shop and chatted to Lisa (she was lovely) as she was putting up Xmas decorations and we bought a few things. We didn't know at the time that she was Clarkson's partner although I guessed she might be as she didn't seem like your typical rural farm shop worker. I did say to my other half that it was a shame it was so quiet and wondered whether it would survive so I was pleased to hear business was very brisk as a result of the show.

Iggly · 15/07/2021 06:18

JC is the one who punched someone over a steak?
So I’m not watching even though it sounds good.

Elune · 15/07/2021 06:22

The scene with him and Gerald in the tractors and the walkie talkies had me in actual tears of laughter

Weebleweeble · 15/07/2021 06:23

I thought it was great. I wish he would go organic (which would have many problems I'm sure and is a long term thing but he does seem to have other income) the amount of fertilizer was astounding and the cost of it, sadly there is not going to be a second series - or not by Amazon.

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 15/07/2021 06:23

When we were self-isolating, Twitter, Picrew, The Walking Dead and Mumsnet.

Elune · 15/07/2021 06:27

As for the no season 2 stories, they were all based off a Jeremy Clarkson tweet, and he later said those stories were 'mischievous' and not to pay attention to them. Amazon often take a while to renew series so it's certainly not the case they aren't renewing it. They just haven't done so yet.

HeavenHotel · 15/07/2021 06:30

@TrixieThunder

Absolutely despise the man. But this show is brilliant! I never imagined I would be saying that!

Hmmmm I have the same opinion of the man. Makes my skin crawl when I see him on TV. May I ask why did you watch it then?

You're almost tempting me!

RainbowZebraWarrior · 15/07/2021 06:36

Day 6 of isolation here. Clarkson's Farm firmly on my list today. I've had a bizarre mix of old comedy on Gold for the last few days and I think I'm done with it now (Are You Being Served for example)

Loving the way farming folk call Countryfile Cunty file. I always thought it was right up it's own arse. Bring back Farming Outlook I say!

FindingMeno · 15/07/2021 06:39

He's one of the few people I absolutely loathe.
Having his face permanently off the TV screens would really help in these shit times.

Labradabradorable · 15/07/2021 07:00

We’ve loved it here too. Yes, there’s staging and scripting but it really does communicate well some of the issues faced by U.K. farmers. The other participants do a brilliant job. Poor long-suffering Cheerful Charlie.

I also enjoy Clarkson’s faring column in the Sunday Times. It’s a bit more serious but very readable.

FenceFuckery · 15/07/2021 07:04

There is a 2.1 listing on IMBD which is promising!

scottmichael · 15/07/2021 07:08

It's so good! Love Kaleb.

Bryonyshcmyony · 15/07/2021 07:15

@Iggly

JC is the one who punched someone over a steak? So I’m not watching even though it sounds good.
Your loss! There must be so many films and TV series you can't watch with that attitude.
BountyIsUnderrated · 15/07/2021 07:24

I loved the show but did get annoyed when his supposed wetlands sanctuary with the heron and otter suddenly became a trout farm.
He even admitted it was hypocritical lol.
Sometimes I find him funny sometimes I think he's a prick, think it's just his persona.
All the more satisfying though when he gets stung on the bottom by a bee. Grin

Robostripes · 15/07/2021 07:25

I thought it was brilliant and have been recommending it to everyone. It came across as really genuine and touching in places - like with the lambs and poor old Wayne Rooney - and hilarious in others (Gerald and Kaleb). Very much hoping for a series 2 and we’re going to the Cotswolds in September so planning to visit the farm shop then!

Dashel · 15/07/2021 07:29

I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it, but with the additional cast, cheerful Charlie and the endearing Kaleb, it was enjoyable.

Especially Kaleb repeatedly telling Jeremy he was an idiot. It does make you think about how hard farming must be and yes Jeremy does some stupid stunts but most of the issues are not self inflicted and seeing the fire that their neighbour had was shocking.

It also makes you realise how hard it must be to cope when things go wrong, most farmers don’t have the kind of cash to throw at the problems like Jeremy does

CandidaAlbicans2 · 15/07/2021 07:32

The show sounds really entertaining. I'd love to watch it but is there a pay per view type option with Amazon Prime? Only I'm not really in a position to get a monthly subscription, and I've heard horror stories about problems cancelling payments after the free trial.

ladyface69 · 15/07/2021 07:48

We loved it and are sheep farmers. You can't get a more accurate portrayal of UK farming at the moment. Sad to see even JC struggling to turn a profit with his apparently unlimited funds! Usually I find him a blustering fool but he has done an amazing job of getting people talking about our struggles, all of which are real - but also showing why we do it - because it's just the best job in the world

Fifthtimelucky · 15/07/2021 07:56

@SirSamuelVimes

Clarkson is an incredibly good presenter. I love watching him, I really do. But he is also a bit of a twat - he was fired from the BBC because he punched a subordinate in the face while at work filming Top Gear.

I am happy enough to hold the two opinions together. I thinks he's brilliant at his job and I enjoy watching the programmes he makes. I also think he's a bit of a twat.

This is exactly how I feel.

We really enjoyed the programme and I'm glad to see that real farmers also enjoyed it.

It also made me feel guilty that I had enjoyed the hot dry spell we had last spring/summer so much. I was very relieved to spend so much time out of doors during the first lockdown. It simply hadn't occurred to me what the impact would be on farmers.

HappydaysArehere · 15/07/2021 08:44

At first we didn’t watch it as we are not fans of Clarkson but then urged by dd we are now doing so. We are really enjoying it and love the characters who help him, especially the one we can’t understand. We are also, surprisingly, warming to him. In fact quite liking him for the first time.
