Do you even find yourself suddenly remembering a particular scenario, and wondering where the people involved are today, if the behaviour is still carrying on, did she ever LTB, etc?

Even if the thread had a resolution to the scenario, if things ever repeated again?

The one that came into my mind vividly today was about a woman who'd gone to collect her child (believe it was a DD) and came home to find that her husband had left the key in the door on the other side meaning they couldn't get in, and despite being able to see 'D'H in the window and signalling to him, he refused to come and open the door as he was on a work call? From memory they were left waiting for about an hour and DD had to wee in the garden.

I remember feeling so outraged for her, and find myself wondering now if it was just a one off or if the bastard has continued doing shitty things to them.

Any other ones that have left an impression?

Was there a second thread for the lady who had a dog and the neighbours child was allergic?

The first ever thread I read on mumsnet was from a poster called worldupsidedown about finding out her DH was GMP cheating and it all unravelling in real time. Then it fizzled out. I often wondered what happened or is she was a troll.

I thought SoftZilla was a troll. The story was just too far-fetched.

Anyone remember CoatZilla? What happened to her?

shrunkenhead · 12/07/2021 19:20

Not sure if it was AIBU but one of the ones I still think about is the woman who was dying of cancer and had a young child and was asking for ideas of things she could do or make so he would remember her. It was such a sad thread. I often think of her and hope maybe it didn't all turn out as bad as it sounded....
On a lighter note , the other threads I will never forget - because they were properly hilarious - were the woman on the bus with the ",fly space" - I think a fellow passenger had objected to her putting her shopping in the "fly space" or something. It made v little sense and appealed to my daft soh! The other was the husband "doing the T rex in Asda" or something?! Basically pretending to be a dinosaur, as you do! Again tickled me.

I remember one from a few years ago. Woman had a teenage DD who's boyfriend had a criminal record. From what I remember he had downplayed it initially but it later somehow came out that he was a registered sex offender. Kept going back to the threat months later but there were no more posts.

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 12/07/2021 19:23

@BattineBlooms

ESD was mentioned by Jo Brand, in The Guardian, if I remember correctly. I think that makes her quite famous! She was quite different to the typical Mumsnet userbase. No wonder people remember her!
Gosh, I conversed with her! This will be my claim to fame. Grin

@giftswap2020

There was one lady whose partner worked away a lot, and when he was due home she had to clean the house to extremely high standards. When she didn't clean he got upset with her. She was posting just as he was due home any day, and never came back😩 I think she'd either been ill or busy at work and not had the time to clean as thoroughly as he would expect so was worried he would be upset with her.

Often wondered what had happened when he came home.

Oh gosh I remember her as well. The DH used to send her lists ahead of time on what he expected to be done before he returned.

She always sounded so panic stricken and on edge every time she posted. I hope she found the strength to leave him.

seanceinterrupted · 12/07/2021 19:25

@battineblooms ... gosh, I never realised. How annoying to have been a fake. I was so invested!

RunningInRain · 12/07/2021 19:26

@Amdone123

Running in the rain was an amazing thread. Dumped by text. She's absolutely so inspirational and was actually the impetus for me to join mumsnet. Also there was one about fashion mistakes. I think the op bought a white coat but instead of having the desired effect, she said she looked like a middle aged taekondo instructor. The thread was so funny. I read it in the middle of the night and laughed so much, I was scared of waking the household up.
I nearly choked on a chocolate button reading this @Amdone123. Thank you for your kind words. I nearly didn’t post that day because I’m not a mum so wasn’t sure I qualified ! My only prior knowledge of Mumsnet was a few years before when I googled something and one of the results fairly randomly took me to a thread about a lady who wanted to sort out her house but was overwhelmed and didn’t know where to start ( I think she may have had a disability/illness ) . Lots of people offered advice plus a few actually arranged to go and physically help with sorting her house out.and posted on the thread about what progress they made each week. It was such a positive and warm read. Hope the lady sorted her house and stayed in contact with the people who helped her.
30not13 · 12/07/2021 19:26

I dont think they were abused threads but I often wonder if ddrmum got her son home again after her ex withheld him after contact, and also a poster who fled DV - red mug

I hope both parties are ok Flowers

anewdispensation · 12/07/2021 19:26

@AngelDelightUk

There was one not that long ago where a lady left her DP without telling him and just took her DD and dog, and drove to her parents house. I think the dog had to be put to sleep soon after she moved up there.

The thread was moved to OTBT and then disappeared.

What is OTBT?
GladysNarracott · 12/07/2021 19:27

I often think about the lady who packed up her car and left with her baby whilst her husband was at work. I think DV was involved. She had horses too. I hope shes okay

It was a troll. A good one but a troll.

Well, I was totally taken in by that one Blush

MolyHolyGuacamole · 12/07/2021 19:27

@Maireas

Remember the £40 per head BBQ, where the hostess had a panic attack and they left without eating? I still can't fathom why they paid £80 to an aquintance for a back garden BBQ. I do wonder what happened, though.
Classic example of one where we had a solution, but it left a lasting impression. WHO would pay £40 for a backyard barbecue 😂

@StrawberrySundayz

I always wonder if Snapped and Farted sorted out her IBS.

And is that guy still dipping his penis in a beaker?

Snapped and Farted was the one thread that genuinely made me laugh. Everyone was posting thinking the OP had put farted in by error which was funny in a childish harmless way but when she returned and confirmed that was what she had done deliberately it was even funnier. Not one to usually laugh at fart jokes but that was one funny thread.

An old one I think of from time to time for some reason was the woman who's H had installed some ridiculous high level UV lighting, for his fish I think, in their living room that was making her ill. He refused to change them but he was out of the house most of the time so not affected by the lights.

What about the little boy who had a toy or something like that and he would make strange predictions and say things he shouldn't have any knowledge of? That was so intriguing! I've never believed in the supernatural but, goodness me, that had me starting to believe!

Iloveitall · 12/07/2021 19:35

I think if the posters who have passed away. I remember one called biscuits. Someone mentioned another one up thread. So sad.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 12/07/2021 19:36

Ah Birdie Friend
Bet he would have predicted the result of last nights game Hmm

NonShallot · 12/07/2021 19:37

@RuggerHug

The one where the OP kept finding hair that wasn't hers or her DSs in the bathroom. That took a bad turn and every now and then I wonder if they're OK.
What happened with this one?! Whose hair was it?!
bargelights · 12/07/2021 19:37

There was one from a husband who thought her therapist had encouraged her to believe she had been abused but sister said it didn't happen.

That was a very weird thread, not least because some people posted complete nonsense, claiming that Satanic ritual abuse was a widespread problem and many survivors had experienced deep trauma. Of course, it is actually a classic example of a moral panic in the psychological sense. The QAnon conspiracy would be a contemporary version.

Was it Birdie or something like that? Bloomin creepy. Didn't it predict deaths and stuff?
