Do you sit or stand when you have the jab?

Remoulade · 11/07/2021 12:30

Not had my first jab yet and going today. Pregnant and incredibly anxious about it. Want to minimise touching anything with any part of my body (yes I know I am over worried, saying it really won't help) and was wondering if you stood up or sat down when you had yours? The thought of sitting on a possibly covid infested chair is making my skin crawl.

Also, if you're meant to sit, can you ask to stand?😐

YABU - I was sitting down
YANBU - I was standing up

Having read the thread, I'd say OP is enjoying this.

They do say never wrestle with a pig ...

You’re going to be fine. Tell the staff that you’re anxious, they’ll help you the whole way.

Yep, this. My DP is scared of needles so he let them know and they made sure he never even saw it.

They clean down each chair after a person has sat on it, they have it down to a T, you cannot fault the vaccination centres imo they have done them amazingly.

Bunnycat101 · 11/07/2021 18:57

The centre I was at was very clean. They were encouraging standing for queuing to avoid people faffing. I was sat down for the jab and then sat down for 10 mins for the watch and wait period. They cleaned the seats throughout.

Like others though, I do think you’d benefit from speaking to someone about your anxiety. A new baby can provoke a lot of emotions and be a very difficult time for those with anxiety. One of my poor friends was so crippled by it she could barely make any decisions about caring for her baby. Children do pick up on it and you’ll need to be able to widen your world and comfort levels for them.

Chairs would be wiped between people using them.

To add, you can sit or stand.

I have a husband who can become deathly ill with a common cold

Your child is going to bring home every germ from nursery/school. In fact when they go to school they get new ones (it’s so fun). You’ll be vomited on, have diarrhoea to clean up, snot, they’ll be sticking their fingers up their noses and in all sorts of places, picking stuff off the floor, you name it kids do it.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 11/07/2021 20:19

Wow. MSM really has done a number on you hasnt it?!!Shock

Sadsiblingatsea · 11/07/2021 20:20

Oh please 🙄

BluebellsareBlue · 11/07/2021 20:22

Covid infested chair???? Dramatist much?

NotMyCat · 11/07/2021 20:32

Also I was barely in there 5 mins. I waited outside after as had AZ, being CEV I felt safer waiting outside but it was very efficient and clean and I felt much safer there than other places I've been!

You, my friend, are correct.

We have been ill (as a household) almost continuously since February. DS1 started nursery.

Remoulade · 11/07/2021 21:53

Well, I suppose I could kill off DH now. Why try to prevent it at all?

Sat for first jab, for the second they had taken the patient chairs away and got us to stand on the marked area of floor. I prefer to sit because I'm a faint risk so I wasn't pleased about it, but actually I was fine.
They'll probably agree to do it standing up if you ask

Thank you Smile

All done. Sat in the end. Things were not as smooth as I had hoped and I am already feeling rubbish. I guess I'm not working tomorrow.

Took it 2 hours ago. I have a temp, I can't stop sweating, everything hurts, my sinuses feel like they have caved in and like I have been hit over the head with a boulder. Is this even normal this soon after?

Just what I was about to say.... 🤣 Everyone has stuff to catch up on if/when they’re off. It’s a pain, but no-one dies. Unless you’re about to tell us you’re a transplant surgeon or something.
Zilla1 · 11/07/2021 22:26

OP, If you have protected your immune system from significant challenges for many years then I'd need to check but I'm not sure normal would be your reference. That said, some people can react in a matter of hours and it be normal. Hope you feel better soon.

Remoulade · 11/07/2021 22:29

Nope, but what I do affects most of you in your every day life. That's all I will say Grin

We stood for the first one, didn't get the option of sitting down. The second one she said we could sit if we wanted- I declined the offer and said I wasn't planning on sticking around any longer than I had to - jabs scare me 😂
