Wedding Favours

As a guest at a wedding, would you appreciate a favour that is something like a wine glass with the couples name and the date on it?

I feel like it would make a good gift for the couple actually getting married, but it's a little self-indulgent to expect guests to take home and keep something like that.

@GreyhoundG1rl
we enjoyed making the jam together and putting it into little pots before the wedding. Everyone was delighted (there were two different flavours and there was definitely some swapping going on).
Zero was left behind. So I think they were appreciated.

I had small Rioja red wine bottles, none got left behind...

Now, that's a wedding favour I could agree with 🍷😁

Out of interest, I went and googled different wedding favors yesterday, and found prices ranging from around £35 for love hearts for about 150 people to things costing quite a lot more. Around £10 per head, even.

Silly prices, I'd save the money. In fact, some of these items had some very simple personalisation that you could easily duplicate for far less. It seems to me that add the word wedding, and just as with venues and catering, prices get jacked up.

wouldn't even want such a glass if my own wedding let alone one I was a guest at. something edible yes but this just a big waste of money.

The only wedding favour I was chuffed with was a charity trolley token keyring. Use it all the time.

If I’m going to a wedding the only favour I require is that you feed me and if it’s not a paid bar then it’s somewhere that doesn’t charge an arm and a leg for a small glass of wine.

wishiwasbytheseaside · 12/07/2021 22:21

We did this, it was a big mistake as barely anyone wanted to carry a breakable glass around all day and night.
Do something edible. My cousin did packets of rolos with a personalised label. I wish I had thought of this

Sugared almonds? I wouldn’t want a glass with someone’s name on it.

therocinante · 12/07/2021 22:56

I've been to weddings with:

  • Donation to Macmillan with a pin badge for each guest (loved this)
  • Homemade candles for everyone with fancy label (I love candles but some people did leave these, I ended up with about 4)

_ Bloody sugared almonds (does anyone actually like these?)

  • Mini bottle of prosecco (v popular but I imagine expensive!?)
  • Personalised stick of Blackpool Rock (cute)
  • Scratchcard (was v popular! I was a bit eyebrow-raisey at first snobbery mostly but it was fun and a fair few people won £20/30 which was nice)
  • Rennies and a tiny bottle of tequila (my favourite ever)

We bought several packets of the mini Green & Black chocolates and made bundles of 3 tied together with ribbon for our wedding favours. We only had 22 guests but they all loved them

My mum made jam with fruit from the garden. I think a few people didn't take theirs but there were enough people who loved the idea they took any leftovers!

Agree with the pp that favours need to be popularly consumable.
