DS doesn't have anyone to go on holiday with

DS 21 has never been on holiday apart from with me and DH, he's said how he's been thinking about next year and that he doesn't have anyone that he could go on holiday with. He's never been in a relationship and has friends but not close enough to go on holiday with.

Is there anyone else's DC's in the same boat as my DS? I've told him that there will be other people in his position and it's not unusual.

I went travelling on my own. It's not unusual and it saves the angst that comes with trying to please other people.

Friend's son was similar. He did a working holiday in Africa. Had the time of his life. Helping to construct a school.

Tell him to go alone! He can make friends along the way!

Another one saying he should go it alone. He will meet people in no time . Partner did the same thing at 20 when none of his friends wanted to go. He loved it

I’ve done holidays alone on a number of occasions. City breaks are easy alone. Or, backpacking, as others suggest.
Incidentally, I used Geckos for a number of small group trips, mainly to places I felt less comfortable travelling alone. I could recommend them.

Neigbours daughter did a guided group holiday thing to South America, her friend had dropped out. She had a brilliant time, met a guy from another country also on the trip, now they are married with a lockdown baby.

Seconding the backpacking idea. I was the same age and had recently finished uni and had no one to travel with so I went by myself. I did a tour of Australia booked with STA travel, met loads of people my age also travelling alone or in small groups in hostels and on the tour and had an amazing time.
