I need to know if this would piss you off, or if my hormones and general level of irritation with DH is colouring my perception (he'll be back in 10 mins so quick answers appreciated)

took DS (6.9) and DD (3.6) on short errand to friend's house at bottom of road

about half-way there DD went flying and screamed blue murder so popped into another friend's house 10 doors away from our house

DD's lip swollen and split .. sent DS back to ours for an ice-pack after 5 mins .. DS told DH what had happened and brought one back.. we stayed at friend's house another 10 mins applying ice and pressure to try to stop bleeding

would you have expected DH to come back with DS with the ice pack to check on his DD? and not just stay in our house (10 doors down)?

would you?

no.... don't think I would, sorry

tissy · 24/11/2007 17:54

hope dd is OK now, btw

lips bleed a LOT, don't they?

SanTALClaus · 24/11/2007 17:54

yes i would twiglett
yanbu

is she okay now?

unknownrebelbang · 24/11/2007 17:55

Yes I would.

How's DD?

LIZS · 24/11/2007 17:55

No probably not.

Twiglett · 24/11/2007 17:55

no she's not ok yet but it looks slightly less swollen (she can't eat ice cream though which is a bad sign I feel)

he's gone out to pharmacy for his meds (left it to the last minute again)

I'm just generally irritated by him tbh

RustyBear · 24/11/2007 17:56

I don't think DH would have come - he would have been very concerned about DD when she returned, but I don't think it would have occurred to him to come over, tbh.
I think he would have assumed that I'd have asked him to come if I needed him.

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/11/2007 17:56

I would think it nice if he did, but wouldn't expect it.

Hekate · 24/11/2007 17:56

No. You were there, you were dealing, you had sent your son to get a pack, not to get help, which means it's not serious. He trusts you to handle it.

bigwombat · 24/11/2007 17:56

No wouldn't really expect it tbh, but I guess it would have been nice of him to do it.

ChippyMinton · 24/11/2007 17:57

yes, i'd expect to come back and see DD and also to make sure DS could get back on his own...unless he was looking after another child?

Twiglett · 24/11/2007 17:58

yes fair enough .. he didn't NEED to come .. IABU

shorty3 · 24/11/2007 17:59

No wouldn't expect it, but it would be nice if he had checked.

Just as an aside - don't know if you know but sugar stops any bleeding on the lips or in the mouth. Whenever my daughter has been bleeding in this area I have given her a teaspoon of sugar to stop the bleeding.

brimfull · 24/11/2007 18:00

my dh wouldn't have come unless I asked him to

SanTALClaus · 24/11/2007 18:00

yep, but like wombat said....it would have been nicer.

shoshaliteupthetree · 24/11/2007 18:01

twigg if a child splits a lip give them a spoonful of sugar it will stop the bleeding.

Hope she is ok now.

SanTALClaus · 24/11/2007 18:02

i would have gone

if it had been the other way round.

Twiglett · 24/11/2007 18:05

thanks all

bleeding stopped but will remember sugar for next time

OP posts:
Twiglett · 24/11/2007 18:06

I think that's the problem Talc .. nothing would have stopped me going to check if it had been other way round

OP posts:
SanTALClaus · 24/11/2007 18:10

hmmmm...dh says he would have gone...

not sure i believe him though!

Swedes2Turnips1 · 24/11/2007 18:21

This is women from mars and men from venus stuff. If you wanted your child to fetch DH AND an ice pack you should have asked for both. I suspect most men would assume that if they were needed they would be asked - because this is how they deal with things. But no you are not being unreasonable .

beeper · 26/11/2007 13:12

Hmmmmmmm......My DH is more panicky than me over these things so he would have come running....but then I dont know the tempramtent of your DH...it might be that he has complete confindence in you in dealing with these situations.

HiddenIcon · 26/11/2007 13:18

I would, yes. Mine probably wouldn't though.

tori32 · 26/11/2007 13:35

Depends on what dh was doing at the time.
If watching tv or leisure then no yanbu.
If sleeping from night shift or other chores etc then yabu iyswim.

All the best to your dd.
