To go all out for next year’s summer holiday! Anyone else with me? I’ve just booked…

Challengerice · 08/07/2021 08:56

7 nights
Sea view, suite, own pool, direct beach access
Absolute top end
British airways flights. At perfect times.
Private airport transfers

Spent 30% more than on previous summer holidays, and i have always gone fairly top end.
It’s pretty eye watering but strangely, not even a nano second of regret.

Are people doing the same? Two years of no abroad holiday (yes yes, UK holidays are lovely. Got a week booked by the coast at really looking forward to it! In the same way as abroad luxury holiday with guaranteed sun? No.).

Anyone else going a bit crazy with their summer holidays next year??

@Lostmarbles2021

This is sadly why our children are f#*ked. There is a climate emergency. In the not too distant future there will be: Food insecurity. More and more places becoming impossible to live in. Huge migration. Social instability. War over resources.

But as long as here and now we get our holidays abroad, drive our ‘nice cars’ and buy tons of stuff we don’t need...who cares about the s#%t storm our children will have to deal with.

But please do enjoy

Thank you! I certainly will. I’m going to Mexico in October so can’t wait!
Whanganui · 08/07/2021 12:53

I’ve met many people on my travels who say that they love the best …. & what they’ve paid. Me too, but I ain’t never paid the amount that they did & I got that same holiday.

HomerSimpsonsDonut · 08/07/2021 12:57

I'm still holding out hope that my holiday in August (next month) is still going ahead...

GenderApostatemk2 · 08/07/2021 13:01

@FilthyforFirth

Yep, going to Disneyworld for 2 weeks, one week on site and one week at a resort. But we are going in August as my eldest is about to start school. Flights not available yet but bracing myself for it to be mega expensive!
I hope you are aware of all the changes made recently and I hope you’re staying in a Deluxe onsite. Moderates and value resorts have lost the perks of actually being onsite, no more early or late hours, no more bookable fastpasses, no more magical express from the airport. Book your park days now, certainly before Christmas, or risk not being able to enter even with a ticket.
Challengerice · 08/07/2021 13:03

@Whanganui

It’s too soon for me to book yet, I always book last minute & get a much better price. Prices will always fluctuate.
Never ever been a situation like this

Prices will move upwards only

@Blossomtoes

Double would have taken it to a five figure number that would have felt positively sickening!

@Teaandbicciesplease

I can barely afford the 3 night camping trip we're going on next week, but am enjoying living vicariously through all of you! Make sure you order champagne on the flight Smile
These are sometimes the best holidays! You don't have to spend thousands to have a lovely time Smile.

Per person or for the whole holiday?

ineedaholidayandwine · 08/07/2021 13:20

I've got 3 holidays lined up next year rather than 1 big blowout one, one of which is 3 weeks exploring California :-D

Challengerice · 08/07/2021 13:32

Per person
Two weeks was £22,000

OP posts:
Challengerice · 08/07/2021 13:32

£36,000!

Scared. Depressed. Dismayed. Not smug.

Ilikewinter · 08/07/2021 13:39

Ive got a cruise booked for 2023, blown the budget because its celebrating a special birthday...... reckon it'll be ok to get on a boat by then!.
We've got a new pup so next year will be a uk break, 😊

Cavalierqueen · 08/07/2021 13:59

If you are that bad, stop having babies, stop eating meat and imported food and stop living in the UK. Move to an off grid place and come off the internet. Which is powered by fossil fuels and the gas I drill out of the ground so you can have central heating and a smartphone. And it makes zero difference, most locations are carbon neutral and charge a premium for decent air seats and also take our tourism dollars towards conservation. At the very least, without tourism many islands would die out. And finally, please pull the stick from your arse and learn to live the beautul planet we wive on. It will help you to heal.

coconutpie · 08/07/2021 14:02

@Challengerice the only part that is unreasonable about your OP is that you didn't tell us where you are going. Maldives maybe? Which resort?

thesugarbumfairy · 08/07/2021 14:10

Well its the same family holiday we were supposed to be going on in 2019 as its just been bumped by two years

I am considering paying for 'superior' lodging though. Its £700 more however. Which is a whole minibreak extra. Still mulling about it...

Cavalierqueen · 08/07/2021 14:27

Question. Has climate change stopped or slowed down because of Covid... Thought not

Zenithbear · 08/07/2021 14:40

We go luxury long haul every year.
Next year we are doing two minimum to make up for the ones we couldn't take.
The winter carribean one that we have rearranged is still in place. Also looking to book a Sandals one and possibly a cruise.
We're early retiring next year and two friends our age have died recently so it's fuck it time.

I can imagine. Perhaps I should have added a 😉

newnortherner111 · 08/07/2021 14:43

Not going crazy but know where I want to go.

Wexone · 08/07/2021 15:38

Still haven't booked yet but will be looking at a month long holiday in America. Was suppose to get married last year, now postponed again till next year. was meant to go to South Africa for two weeks and Mauritius for one week for my honeymoon, have a voucher from the Travel agency. Will definitely get married next year but will wait nearer the time before we book our honeymoon and decide where we go. Its only now that we have been able to afford to on holiday every year, had a bucket list of where we would go every year. We didn't go on holiday last year , we are just back from a weeks staycation in a 5 star hotel, it was beautiful. Wouldn't normally pay what we paid , but it was worth it especially as we still have restrictions here in Ireland. Will be definitely splashing out for an over top next year and every year after that now if funds allow it .

AliceAbsolum · 08/07/2021 16:28

DH and I brought a campervan and left the UK as soon as it was legal. Won't be coming back until at least May 2022. It's been 6 weeks so far and LOVING IT.

We vlog it all if you're interested/very bored Grin

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 08/07/2021 16:56

we are planning to go to the Caribbean for 2 weeks.
it's the 9 of us.

I don't dare to book anything because I don't trust this dumbfuckery will be over by then so it might be 2023...
but yeah, sod it!
