To go all out for next year’s summer holiday! Anyone else with me? I’ve just booked…

7 nights
Sea view, suite, own pool, direct beach access
Absolute top end
British airways flights. At perfect times.
Private airport transfers

Spent 30% more than on previous summer holidays, and i have always gone fairly top end.
It’s pretty eye watering but strangely, not even a nano second of regret.

Are people doing the same? Two years of no abroad holiday (yes yes, UK holidays are lovely. Got a week booked by the coast at really looking forward to it! In the same way as abroad luxury holiday with guaranteed sun? No.).

Anyone else going a bit crazy with their summer holidays next year??

... And obviously that SPF 50 sunscreen won't be marine-animal friendly, but I'll still frolic in the sea with careless abandon anyway. Zero fucks.

MarshaBradyo · 08/07/2021 11:33

Yeh I agree

I think we’ll see huge demand

Cavalierqueen · 08/07/2021 11:36

@DotDotDotDot

Oh yes, I'm vegetarian too, as well as not having any children. I forgot about that - does that win me even more climate-smugness points?

Next year I'm hoping to go to the Maldives. If I do, I'll be sure to give zero fucks about the climate, apart from worrying whether I have enough SPF 50 sunscreen.

I have been twice in 3 months, last time got back last night. It's perfect at the moment, best climate ever. Went to a smaller island and there were only 20 of us, absolutely stunning. Beach within 10 meters of bed, bungalow opens straight out onto sand. We are thinking of going again for Eid in a few weeks.
DotDotDotDot · 08/07/2021 11:38

@Cavalierqueen
Can I ask which islands you've been to and which you'd recommend? I've been to a few, and am tempted to go back to my favourite (Kandolhu), but I don't know if I should try a new one. I'm really dithering over it!

FilthyforFirth · 08/07/2021 11:41

Yep, going to Disneyworld for 2 weeks, one week on site and one week at a resort. But we are going in August as my eldest is about to start school. Flights not available yet but bracing myself for it to be mega expensive!

Cavalierqueen · 08/07/2021 11:42

Best is Sandies Bathala if you want to relax and do a bit of water sports. It's paradise.

Thanks! I'll have a look.

I’m hoping we can see DH’s family in Australia so they can meet DS for the first time.

Probably shell out for the long haul Qantas Premium Economy if we can.

ithoughtisawapuddycat · 08/07/2021 11:48

I'm not booking yet but when we do we'll go all out, although always go for 4 stars and up as a minimum.

This is sadly why our children are f#ked. There is a climate emergency. In the not too distant future there will be: Food insecurity. More and more places becoming impossible to live in. Huge migration. Social instability. War over resources*

Even more reason to enjoy as much of life as we can now! I’m sure climate change is far more complex than Janets Easy Jet flight to Benidorm.

ANYWAY, yes OP we went all out for summer 2022 and booked a couple of months back. Plenty of time to pay the extra £££ for more nights, better accommodation and an on-site water park. I can’t wait. We’ve booked Cornwall this year and I’m not excited at all. I feel flat about it. We live for our family time in the sun and I’ve been very sad to miss out. For me, UK holidays are not enjoyable at all.

Alannawhorideslikeaman · 08/07/2021 12:01

Mine is the holiday I've been delaying since 2020 which was a big blow out holiday Grin though I've added an extra two nights on and now debating a boat trip I hadn't previously which will easily cost another €500. I am so so hoping it can all go ahead as I've been crushed cancelling it the last two times.

idontlikealdi · 08/07/2021 12:04

I did it last week and can't bloody wait

Challengerice · 08/07/2021 12:19

I went to huvafen fushi.
Can’t rate more highly. Truly heaven. Over water bungalow

I’m paying over £5k for a UK cruise this year. Top everything we can get.

No judgement here!

Hairbrush123 · 08/07/2021 12:30

I’ve booked a trip for me and my mum to Italy for her 60th in February. We are staying at Waldorf Astoria in Rome however she has no clue Grin. Fortunately she’s retired so no problems with work!

motogogo · 08/07/2021 12:30

We've booked New York already, but not 100% convinced it will happen

But as long as here and now we get our holidays abroad, drive our ‘nice cars’ and buy tons of stuff we don’t need...who cares about the s#%t storm our children will have to deal with.

But please do enjoy

I will thanks, not that I need your permission. No guilt about it either
Whanganui · 08/07/2021 12:43

It’s too soon for me to book yet, I always book last minute & get a much better price. Prices will always fluctuate.

Jumbojem · 08/07/2021 12:46

I bought a campervan the weekend before the first lockdown so I cannot wait to take her on the intended leisurely saunters through France/Spain/Germany we planned neck then. My parents live in France, they've not seen us or grandkids for 2 years now so can't wait for that.
No way as luxury as some of your holidays which sound fabulous! It's my 50th in 2023 so thinking about something amazing for that.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 08/07/2021 12:49

Some great sounding holidays.

When our kids were little, we didn’t have the time or money to go abroad and very few holidays in this country. We had two abroad holidays when they were teenagers.

We haven’t had a holiday abroad for twelve years and don’t expect to again now, but it’s nice to hear of others.

The only unreasonable part of this is that you’ve only booked a week. We booked a holiday for May back in March. I might entertain myself by looking to see what it would cost if I booked today.
