Your dream country live in?

In this hypothetical you don't have to worry about potential language barrier or immigration. You would just be one of the citizens.

What country you would like to live in and why?

The Netherlands.... We just feel at home there and did ponder a move over.

Second choice would a Scandinavian country. But DH would struggle with the cold.

@YouShouldLeave
Yes!
And people are very rude and smoke a lot.

@LemonFantaGin I understand your username!

Menorca for me too. With maybe an apartment in Madrid.

Damn it! That’s ruined then.
According to all the statistic Switzerland is supposed to be one of the best countries after nordic countries....

Western Australia, Portugal

grapewine · 07/07/2021 20:14

I'm pretty happy with being a Dane, but I absolutely have fallen in love with Iceland.

Rosesareyellow · 07/07/2021 20:14

Monaco for the perks. They treat their citizens very well.

Norway for the scenery.

thedarkling · 07/07/2021 20:15

France

Or Malaysia

Derrymum123 · 07/07/2021 20:17

New Zealand, clean and beautiful. Lovely people too.

tealappeal · 07/07/2021 20:18

Chile, Argentina or New Zealand.

Treacletoots · 07/07/2021 20:19

France. Food, wine, beautiful varied regions.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 07/07/2021 20:20

I love Greece. Whenever I go there I feel like I've come home.

I actually did live there for a little while and sometimes wish I'd never left - although I'd never have met DH and had our gorgeous DC if I hadn't.

SiobhanSharpe · 07/07/2021 20:22

Spain, specifically northern Spain, the Basque country. The scenery is beautiful, quite unlike the rest of Spain, and the food is absolutely fantastic. The cities are very civilised and the quality of life looks to be excellent.

(And San Sebastián is only about an hour from Biarritz which is lovely. SW France would be my second choice😉)

Bubblespider · 07/07/2021 20:22
@StarryStarrySocks.... But England is a country, is it not? The OP asked which country would you like to live in....
Yes it is. But Ibiza, Menorca and Majorca are not! (Other suggestions on this thread)

@Cazzovuoi

I live in Switzerland and it’s just idyllic in so many ways except for rampant misogyny and racism Confused

I would love to live in Italy again, I was there for 3 years and love it. My Italian DH would never live there again because there are too many Italians there Hmm

I know a young British couple who have been living in Switzerland, in a major city, for about three years, they are super bright and have the best jobs imaginable but they can't wait to leave. They find it to be a very closed, restrictive society, as well as just plain dull.
Perching · 07/07/2021 20:33

Just England. I am an immigrant and have lived in many countries and traveled extensively. I love England the most.

Monkeytennis97 · 07/07/2021 20:34

Switzerland or Austria.

Aww, that's so lovely. You don't hear immigrants on here say nice things about England very often. I'm a bit choked now.
TheVolturi · 07/07/2021 20:41

Canada definitely.

Thewinterofdiscontent · 07/07/2021 20:44

Italy or the South if France. Both so pretty. Wonderful light, food and wine. And warm sunshine. Really missing that.

MeanderingGently · 07/07/2021 20:45

Iceland.
Or else a remote part of Scotland, in the mountains....

Notaslimshady · 07/07/2021 20:46

Mauritius. I have family over there and have been many many times! I love it.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 07/07/2021 20:52

The Cayman Islands. I went to Grand Cayman and fell in love with the place.

I'd also love to live in France (Luberon) or Italy (Rome) but since my French is rusty and my Italian non-existent I'd probably struggle to get by.

(I know they're a territory not a country)

PlanetTeaTime · 07/07/2021 20:55

Greece, specifically Corfu. I just think it's so beautiful and I love the food. Corfu Town is just stunning as well

abstractzebra · 07/07/2021 21:07

South of France.
Not sure exactly where but I'll decide when I get there! 🌞🍷
I went to Lisbon for less than a day a couple of years ago and I was absolutely in love with it, so I would check first which country I liked best!
