In this hypothetical you don't have to worry about potential language barrier or immigration. You would just be one of the citizens.

What country you would like to live in and why?

Italy or Australia- by the coast

Susannahmoody · 07/07/2021 19:27

I actually live in Canada and bloody love it. The seasons are incredible but the cold isn't for the fainthearted.

Sarahlou63 · 07/07/2021 19:28

I'm here already. Central Portugal. Would also live in Ireland again but would never go back to the UK (even though bits of it are lovely).

ghostyslovesheets · 07/07/2021 19:29

Germany - Bavaria - I've lived there before - would go back in a heartbeat

HerRoyalNotness · 07/07/2021 19:30

Norway, it just feels so fresh
NZ, home
Hawaii

Strawberryshitfest · 07/07/2021 19:30

Norway, Scotland, Canada

Ratalie · 07/07/2021 19:31

Canada, but probably only Vancouver/British Columbia as I couldn’t cope with the harsher climate elsewhere. Great mix of city living, amazing landscapes and healthy, outdoorsy lifestyle.
The owners being that it is hideously expensive and work life balance isn't great for most (Canadians get far fewer vacation days than European workers).

romdowa · 07/07/2021 19:32

I love my home country Ireland but I'd also love to live in Wales , Northern Ireland or Germany.

TempsPerdu · 07/07/2021 19:34

@Ratalie I do get that aspect; DB lives there and is actually imminently leaving Vancouver for Kelowna partly for this reason. But I still love it and the scenery is to die for.

ottermadness · 07/07/2021 19:34

Slovenia or Croatia on a historic part of the coast

Ylvamoon · 07/07/2021 19:36

I second Bavaria. Especially around Munich. Beautiful scenery, plenty of lakes and mountains. I also think the living standards are higher than in the UK.

ineedaholidayandwine · 07/07/2021 19:38

Hawaii, loved the scenery, the people were nice and the atmosphere very relaxed

SunSeaSurfGin · 07/07/2021 19:42

Italy- I'd do up a Tuscan villa/ vineyard. Fall in love with the local chap who showed me how to make wine

forinborin · 07/07/2021 19:46

@ottermadness

Slovenia or Croatia on a historic part of the coast
Ooooh yes. The most beautiful and relatively unknown part of Europe. My dream destination is somewhere around Trieste.
MrsWOLF1 · 07/07/2021 19:47

France .We live in a rural department, beautiful weather, fabulous food and wine , people are really friendly .We are the only non french in our village but I feel more at home here than when we lived in the uk

Marianicka · 07/07/2021 19:48

I'd like to live in the Netherlands and cycle everywhere. They seem a happy, smiley people.

YouShouldLeave · 07/07/2021 19:49

@Cazzovuoi

I live in Switzerland and it’s just idyllic in so many ways except for rampant misogyny and racism Confused

I would love to live in Italy again, I was there for 3 years and love it. My Italian DH would never live there again because there are too many Italians there Hmm

Re: Switzerland, is it really that bad?
OP posts:
Camomila · 07/07/2021 19:52

I'd go back to Italy, I was soo tempted when Brexit happened but DH doesn't speak Italian.

whatthejiggeries · 07/07/2021 19:53

I would definitely live in Switzerland if it was rural and if I had to pick a city it would be Oslo. I have expensive tastes

FastFood · 07/07/2021 19:55

@MarshaBradyo

Where I live London but if I could get anything I’d do more central London nice house and garden
Yep same, but I'd take a roof terrace over a garden. Absolutely love living in London and in the UK. It's not perfect, but it's a great place to live, I feel safe and welcomed here.

Otherwise...St Petersburg, I'd live in a flat in a grandiose building, and I'd have a little dacha for summer weekends.

Blueberrymuffin79 · 07/07/2021 19:55

No where else I'd choose England all day long it's my country and I love it.

whatthejiggeries · 07/07/2021 19:57

That said I reckon I would get fed up in Switzerland pretty quickly. The Swiss are so pedantic and nothings open on a Sunday and everyone has at least an hour for lunch when no one answers the phone. You also can't even mow the lawn on a Sunday so maybe Austria 😂

LemonMuffins · 07/07/2021 19:58

Scotland please. Pretty sure I'll move there at some point.

StarCourt · 07/07/2021 19:58

Greece because I've already lived there and want to go back
