In this hypothetical you don't have to worry about potential language barrier or immigration. You would just be one of the citizens.

What country you would like to live in and why?

I absolutely love living in England. It’s beautiful and I feel blessed .

Wormholes · 07/07/2021 18:36

Haute Corse.

Paradise.

Elys3 · 07/07/2021 18:42

Italy. I did a sabbatical there and would love to return one day

ClareBlue · 07/07/2021 18:45

Walking along the Atlantic cliffs last night as the sun was setting reaffirmed that I wouldn't chose anywhere over West Ireland.

onlyhereforthecake · 07/07/2021 18:51

USA, not many countries in the world offer such a choice, from ski resorts, to beautiful beaches, Alaska to Hawaii via South Dakota, villages to cities.

Thelikelylass · 07/07/2021 18:53

USA, specifically Palm Springs.

Roodicus21 · 07/07/2021 18:54

Ibiza if I could the job I do. I wouldn't want to run a business or work in hospitality.

Thiswayorthatway · 07/07/2021 18:55

It’s dark half the time in Scandinavia.

TempsPerdu · 07/07/2021 19:01

I wouldn’t say no to:

  • The Alto Adige region of Italy, especially Merano - mountains, clean air, warm climate, good food and wine, interesting mix of Italian/Austrian culture. Still Italy, but more orderly and less chaotic than some other parts!
  • Canada, but probably only Vancouver/British Columbia as I couldn’t cope with the harsher climate elsewhere. Great mix of city living, amazing landscapes and healthy, outdoorsy lifestyle.
  • Most of Scandinavia for the low key, civilised vibe and cultural values.
Lonelycrab · 07/07/2021 19:01

New Zealand for the stunning landscapes and nature, but with zero in the way of nasty insects or snakes. Plus they take their coffee quite seriously.

TempsPerdu · 07/07/2021 19:04

We also really loved Slovenia - just stunningly beautiful - but only visited once dl not sure if I could live there!

MarshaBradyo · 07/07/2021 19:05

Where I live London but if I could get anything I’d do more central London nice house and garden

Pottedpalm · 07/07/2021 19:08

@Thelikelylass

USA, specifically Palm Springs.
But it’s so hot!
LubaLuca · 07/07/2021 19:12

Spain. I like the culture and food, and the climate. I'd have to go for an island though, probably Balearic, probably Majorca.

ShitPoetryClub · 07/07/2021 19:13

I'm English, I long to be Welsh. I'm learning Welsh. Just because.

Pottedpalm · 07/07/2021 19:15

The Netherlands, such a civilised country. And the Dutch people love children; the DTs were so well looked after everywhere as babies. Have also taken parties of teenagers and they were welcomed and given enough freedom to have fun. So they could wander round the town in the evening having chips and soft drinks, but at about 9 the bar tenders told them they had to head back to their hotel,

GetInThereLewis · 07/07/2021 19:17

I love Argentina. Great people, though they are repeatedly screwed over by their government. Who isn't I suppose?

SalsaLove · 07/07/2021 19:17

Six months in the Netherlands, six months in the U.S.

Somethingsnappy · 07/07/2021 19:18

Iceland

devildeepbluesea · 07/07/2021 19:20

Portugal. Just love it.

Somethingsnappy · 07/07/2021 19:20

@StarryStarrySocks.... But England is a country, is it not? The OP asked which country would you like to live in....

moonbedazzled · 07/07/2021 19:21

I love living in England. I travel round the country a lot and everyone everywhere is always so kind and helpful. I'm also fortunate to have gone to lots of countries abroad and never had a bad experience, but arriving at the airport and seeing the word Manchester, or driving up the M6 and entering the Red Rose County, makes me feel safe, secure and so very, very happy. 🥰

awaynboilyurheid · 07/07/2021 19:24

In the summer Italy, love all of it, but would also choose Scotland where I live but would ask for much more sunshine!

In the winter Florida, you can see the theme here.

Osrie · 07/07/2021 19:25

Iceland

Cazzovuoi · 07/07/2021 19:25

I live in Switzerland and it’s just idyllic in so many ways except for rampant misogyny and racism Confused

I would love to live in Italy again, I was there for 3 years and love it. My Italian DH would never live there again because there are too many Italians there Hmm
