Would you block her in?

I’m WFH and just taking my lunch so thought I’d also whip the bin out. As I do, a car crawls past and then reverses into our parking spot. (It’s our private spot and has our number sprayed in it as well as a sign saying ‘Private parking for number 30’) A woman gets out so I said “Excuse me, sorry you can’t park there” she looks and me and just wanders off up the street.

I mean, I get she might not have realised (although the sign is big and prominent) but to be told and then still walk off without moving - the cheek.

I was a bit taken aback if I’m honest so went back in the house and then I thought, no sod this and I went and knocked on the door of the house she went in, I waited a bit but no one answered!

I wouldn’t mind as such if someone was quickly dropping something off but she’s obviously stopping for a bit. The annoying thing too is the house she’s gone in has a driveway and there’s room for this visitor on it. So I’m a bit Confused to why she’s parked in our private bay.

Grrr, I can’t keep knocking as going back to work (WFH) in a bit, so would I be unreasonable to just block her in with my car? Blush I feel like I need to make a point Grin

Block her in! What a complete knob she is.

We often get people parking DIRECTLY BEHIND OUR CARS and I have resorted to putting a few passive aggressive notes on their windscreen. Very annoying indeed.

tallduckandhandsome · 05/07/2021 16:15

@CimCardashian

When is the neighbour due back?

I can’t believe she parked on your driveway?! So cheeky.

Yes, she has. She has wasted OP's time by making her get the driver cleared for her DH.
tallduckandhandsome · 05/07/2021 16:15

driveway not driver

tallduckandhandsome · 05/07/2021 16:15

sorru didn't mean to quote you @CimCardashian

Twoforthree · 05/07/2021 16:17

Do you have the neighbours number? I’d text the whole saga and give them the opportunity to block her in.

Do you know what? If some idiot texted me that I’d stay away for as long as I could manage. After I’d blocked them.

Equally laughing and cringing now, I feel so bad I’ve started a massive chain reaction 🤣

Neighbour came home (could see him from my ‘office’ window.) He parked in their other space (the one his wife normally parks in) saw him nosying at the car and then he knocked on my door, wondering if it was our visitor or if we knew who it was. I get on well with this neighbour and so naturally I told him the whole story. 🤭

Anyway he says he’s going to block her in and gets in his car and drives off left up the road (the other direction) so I think he’s just doing a U-turn to get a better angle to block her in but he must have changed his mind because he drove past her and has driven over to the neighbours house and parked right across their drive!!

I can’t believe it! I really wish he’d parked on her drive but no one can get on it now he’s completely horizontal across it. 😬

@LittleMissnotLittleMrs

I don’t think I’d block her in but how about a potato in the exhaust pipe or write a note saying that she’s parked in a private space that was needed. She didn’t answer the door so you have left this polite note to inform her she’s trespassing . Then glue it to her window. Passenger side so she can drive but will look like a dick. Print stick or something that will come off but is awkward
Potato in the exhaust is the nuclear option.

I'm told that the car will start, and will run a little way, but then dies and won't start again. The driver then thinks it's broken down, and will have it towed to a garage.

I wonder how long it takes a mechanic to think of checking the exhaust pipe for potatoes? @ £50 an hour or whatever the labour charge is these days?

Except this particular CF hasn’t actually inconvenienced anyone.

They've inconvenienced OP - or do you think OP is unreasonable for wanting to protect her private property? As it happens, they've parked up in there a few hours before one of the rightful users had planned to use it, but for all they know, somebody could have been planning to park there a few minutes after they'd just walked off. One of the householders could have regular carers who are due to arrive. They neither knew nor cared.

Let's not kid ourselves that it isn't actually an inconvenience for somebody to help themselves to your own private property and assume that you - the rightful owner - will just fit in or rearrange your own plans to suit them.

This is awesome but how will it inconvenience the neighbour? Does she have cars parked on her drive that are now blocked in?
Doubledoorsontogarden · 05/07/2021 16:29

He parked on CF neighbors drive? High five to that man

DragonWillow · 05/07/2021 16:30

block her in & pop a note in the door that you've gone out & will be back in a couple of hours - you tried to warn her but.......

Blossomtoes · 05/07/2021 16:30

No, @WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll, OP’s inconvenienced herself. Or at least kept herself and other parking drama queens entertained for most of the day.

notmethenwho · 05/07/2021 16:32

Yessss my hero!

awaywiththefae · 05/07/2021 16:33

Not the drive but straight across it. I keep looking out and laughing. I’d take a photo but I’ve probably written too much on here as it is 🤣

I texted DH to let him know, we’ll be looking at the window waiting for her DH to come home.

CF parking woman still in my next door neighbours spot.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 05/07/2021 16:34

Blossomtoes - Is she just a silly little woman who needs to learn to be kind and demure, shrink into the background and put everybody else first?

MaggieFS · 05/07/2021 16:35

Need a diagram update with diagonal parking.

Well done that man!

😆 It’s my private property though. Why should someone just park there.

I can tell on this thread who the CF parkers are and who aren’t 😬🤭

@Blossomtoes

CFs simply continue with their ignorant cfery at everyone else’s inconvenience

Except this particular CF hasn’t actually inconvenienced anyone.

She doesn’t know that and she’s quite prepared to take something that isn’t hers regardless of the consequences.
WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 05/07/2021 16:36

A couple of trolley jacks can sometimes help to move a car that needs moving. For some reason, they're colour-sensitive and seem to work much better if you allow them to come to a stop on a double yellow line.

PassTheVinoTinto · 05/07/2021 16:38

She clearly is a loon, what goes on in people's heads 🤦‍♀️

Our neighbour had a visitor and they avoided her huge double drive and parked on our drive in front of our garage! The garage is clearly part of our house, it's an integral garage and totally in our own grounds as such Hmm

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 05/07/2021 16:38

Shameless placemark!

MadeForThis · 05/07/2021 16:43

😂😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/07/2021 16:44

You should have said to neighbour

Move it to parking on your drive
