Would you block her in?

I’m WFH and just taking my lunch so thought I’d also whip the bin out. As I do, a car crawls past and then reverses into our parking spot. (It’s our private spot and has our number sprayed in it as well as a sign saying ‘Private parking for number 30’) A woman gets out so I said “Excuse me, sorry you can’t park there” she looks and me and just wanders off up the street.

I mean, I get she might not have realised (although the sign is big and prominent) but to be told and then still walk off without moving - the cheek.

I was a bit taken aback if I’m honest so went back in the house and then I thought, no sod this and I went and knocked on the door of the house she went in, I waited a bit but no one answered!

I wouldn’t mind as such if someone was quickly dropping something off but she’s obviously stopping for a bit. The annoying thing too is the house she’s gone in has a driveway and there’s room for this visitor on it. So I’m a bit Confused to why she’s parked in our private bay.

Grrr, I can’t keep knocking as going back to work (WFH) in a bit, so would I be unreasonable to just block her in with my car? Blush I feel like I need to make a point Grin

Can’t wait for nice neighbour to drive off and leave cf neighbour’s car parked in the middle of the road,

Why hasn’t anyone reported the car that’s in the middle of the road?

awaywiththefae · 05/07/2021 22:01

@Bargebill19

Well I’ve learnt something today. Apparently you can print prescriptions, but not a ‘Dr on call’ sign. Dh has pointed out there is little point in a Dr handwriting a note - it would just look like a giant spider had danced across the paper after eating a biro.

Too true 🤣

@WutheringBites

this is such a depressing thread. I'm a dr and do home visits. I've parked in COMPLETELY THE WRONG SPOT because I don't know where I'm visiting/didn't know it was a reserved space/am more bloody worried about visiting a sick patient (and the next two I've got to get to before I have to start afternoon surgery). fortunately, I work in a nice bit of the world where no one has blocked me in (yet). and, no, there's not a "dr on call" note to put in the window.

sad people are such twats.

But I'm sure you'd have answered the OP if this was you to say you were a dr on call. The cf didn't do this, they just ignored her and went to the house they were going to.
cricketmum84 · 05/07/2021 22:12

Dr Wuthering... I see your point but surely if a neighbour of the person you are visiting pointed out you were parked in their space you would tell them you were a Dr on call rather than just ignoring them???

That's the different between a DR and a CF!

AngelDelightUk · 05/07/2021 22:15

Shamelessly here for an update! I’m so invested now

Part of me is curious what CF DH wanted!

NoProblem123 · 05/07/2021 22:16

@lockdownalli

😂😂😂

Not read beyond your comment - nailed it 😁

ineedanewnameplease · 05/07/2021 22:21

Shamelessly placemarking for the outcome!

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 05/07/2021 22:22

Wuthering - whom exactly were you referring to when you said 'sad' people - those who own private property and wish to keep it private? Do you allow people to go in help themselves to a sit down and chat in your consulting room when you're on your lunch break?

Maybe it's just me, but I would be inclined to call an ambulance in case of a medical emergency, rather than phoning and getting a home visit, whenever the GP has an available slot to schedule one. As I'm sure you're well aware, patients frequently need home visits because of disabilities and/or mobility problems which mean they can't easily (or at all) leave home - but their inability to leave home does not equal 'at death's door' - if this is the case, then people call 999, not the local GP.

Why don't you have a 'Dr on call' notice, though? Do you expect people to just guess or know that you're a doctor? If you don't have the wherewithal to spend two minutes printing something off on a PC, or just writing three words with a marker pen on a piece of paper, I'm not certain you should actually be a practising GP Hmm

mummyh2016 · 05/07/2021 22:24

Well the doctors post backfired 😂

SailingBuddy · 05/07/2021 22:26

This is brilliant.
I love your nice neighbour. I hope he’s had some wine and can’t move his car at all!

Marriedatfirstyear · 05/07/2021 22:27

@EarringsandLipstick

This thread is horrible. She shouldn't have parked there & is rude. However you don't actually need the space till DH comes home, by which time she'll most likely be gone.

If she isn't, sure block her then if he needs to park.

However to go to all the effort of moving your car just to block her in is really infantile, as are the posters baying at OP to do it.

The woman is wrong. Be mildly irked. Get on with your day. If it's still a problem, in a few hours time when DH actually needs the space, deal with it then.

Telling someone what to feel.... classic.
ChubbyLittleManInACampervan · 05/07/2021 22:29

I actually agree with @EarringsandLipstick though

Terhou · 05/07/2021 22:31

You should have blocked in CF visitor in nice neighbour's space.

I'm going to guess that if someone called out to you and told you you couldn't park where you'd left your car, you wouldn't have ignored them?
maddening · 05/07/2021 22:35

Omg, would love to know what the cfs are thinking right now.🤣

mumoftinyterrors · 05/07/2021 22:35

Are both cars still there?!?!?

DdraigGoch · 05/07/2021 22:45

@IamnotSethRogan

Yes hiding was the best option.

I don't care what the miseries on here who clearly are CF parkers this thread is fucking brilliant. People act like complete tossers thinking they can do as they like and get a bit if their own medicine.

If he knocks again, maybe answer and say he parked there after his dickhead wife's mate parked in everyone elses space and was a cunt about it.

No, the best option is to answer the door dressed in full bondage gear.

Still doesn’t give you the right to park on someone elses driveway Hmm
Jux · 05/07/2021 22:50

Your diagrams are great, very clear, just the right amount of info.

I bet though that when you move the car from the offending space, you put it in the right space the second time, instead of finding another offending space.

I'm pretty certain that CF visitor was told to park in stupid places by CF neighbour. Why else would they have parked badly the second time?

By the way, up here the mountain rescue team (when not in one of the official Land Rovers) have "Mountain Rescue" labels on their car sun visors which they flip down if they need to park inconveniently. Seems to work. Likewise someone down the road has a sticker in his windscreen which says "Lifeboat Crew".

VeganCheesePlease · 05/07/2021 22:54

@awaywiththefae

The whole thread is seriously pathetic, based on someone parking in an empty parking space that no-one was wanting to use at the time.

Doesn’t matter though it’s our space. If you had a drive and it’s empty it doesn’t mean that someone could park on it.

Ooooh OP looks like your neighbour found the thread 😂😂

Anyone else doubting @WutheringBites ‘s claims to being a Doctor? 🤔
