Just that really.

I like a Scottish or an Irish accent on a man!

@StillCalmX - I took a linguistics course as an undergrad and I wish now that I had paid more attention. Grin

I come from a town where it’s possible to tell which part of the town someone is from by their accent but the changes are so so subtle.

I also think it’s fascinating when accents merge, e.g someone from an area with a strong regional accent moves to another area also with a strong accent and starts to acquire the new accent. Always makes me smile.

OldTinHat · 04/07/2021 08:03

Irish!!

ArabellaPilkington · 04/07/2021 08:04

Italian - hands down. [sigh]

WB205020 · 04/07/2021 08:06

Irish every time!

StillCalmX · 04/07/2021 08:08

Wow, I'd love to do that course. I love that accents are changing. I saw a clip about the Glasgow accent and it said that all other accents across uk&Ireland were changing still, homogenising?, but not the Glasgow accent! It was a BBC Scotland clip so I suppose that it's true.
I love Ewan McGregor's accent! Sorry!

StillCalmX · 04/07/2021 08:09

I'm being pedantic but speaking English as a second language is a different category!

RosesAndHellebores · 04/07/2021 08:10

Providing they are articulate I don't mind the accent but I do like words to be correctly enunciated with a beginning, middle and end.

TeddingtonTrashbag · 04/07/2021 08:13

Edinburgh. (At least I think it is.)
Fraser Nelson on the Spectator podcast has the best voice/accent ever. I just melt…Grin

Mummadeze · 04/07/2021 08:13

Love Welsh accents. And all American accents but particularly a cowboy type Texan one.

Mansplainee · 04/07/2021 08:16

I’m with you OP. Scottish or Irish definitely.

DH is Bristolian. I notice the Bristol accent hasn’t made it onto this list, I can’t imagine why

awaywiththefae · 04/07/2021 08:16

Welsh (not North sounds too Liverpool/Manchester-y), the American where they sound like a cowboy and say “ma’am” ☺️, a proper New York accent, Dutch person speaking English, most Scottish unless it’s the Rab C Nesbitt kind where I can’t understand anything, the Liam Neeson type of Irish accent.

I know, I’m very specific 🤣

bunburyscucumbersandwich · 04/07/2021 08:18

Spanish 🤤

BonesJones · 04/07/2021 08:18

N.irish, or USA Southern drawl. Or Scottish. Or Aus.

isthismylifenow · 04/07/2021 08:23

Irish for me, and a softly spoken Scot. Although I was quite mesmerized just listening to a French Canadian as well.

For those saying South African, it's a very regional accent as well. An English Cape Town accent is so much more enticing to me than a heavy mix of English / Afrikaans accent.

StillCalmX · 04/07/2021 08:24

@itsaccrualworld this is so true. My own abusive x has a home counties accent, fairly standard, bit boring, not posh. But not not posh either. so I wouldn't really be put off another man with the same accent as I would hardly register that they had the same accent. But his name!! After about 5 years of being single I finally met somebody and he had the same name. My heart SANK when he told me his name! I instantly relegated him. Sounds harsh but I knew it'd go nowhere. It didn't. It went for a lap around the block. I didn't invest in to it because of his name.

coulditbecominghome · 04/07/2021 08:27

I think posh English is deeply unsexy.

coulditbecominghome · 04/07/2021 08:32

"London"
"Like Danny Dyer?"

That's a cockney accent which isn't what all Londoners sound like. I'm a Londoner & I think my accent is quite nondescript.

Cowbells · 04/07/2021 08:33

@BillyShears

On a man, Mancunian. No idea why I think this. I’m a Londoner and have never gone out with, had sex with or even had a crush on a Manc. I just find the accent a real turn on. Amuses my (Cockney) husband no end and he likes to do a Gary Barlowesque “we ‘avin a our kid?” for me occasionally.
Same here. Manchester. Always loved it, even in my teens. Married a Mancunian and I just love his accent. If he'd been a Cockney we might never have got to a third date Grin
DeadButDelicious · 04/07/2021 08:34

I don't usually go for 'accents' but I could have listened to Pete Steele from Type O Negative talk AAAAAAAAALLLLLLL day. He had this gorgeous deep rumbling New York accent... lovely it was... 😍

Garraty47 · 04/07/2021 08:36

Arsene Wenger.

Inthesameboatatmo · 04/07/2021 08:37

I'm going to say nothing sexier than Arabic being whispered in your ear when its getting hot an heavy.
Oh how I miss him .

Rapskallion · 04/07/2021 08:39

Love the Derry accent.

A strong New York or New Jersey accent is gorgeous, too.

Sometimesonly · 04/07/2021 08:41

Used to be Italian but Italian dh has mansplained the sexiness out if it, so French or Russian. Grin

TheBullfinch · 04/07/2021 08:42

Irish - all of them!
Russian

MoChridhe · 04/07/2021 08:43

@Mookie81

A Scottish saying 'Sassenach', especially if he looks like Jamie Fraser! Grin Otherwise Irish will do.
Me too. I love a southern drawl too and African American accent.
