Can't watch the football because of the spitting

DH has put the England game on and the players are standing ready to go out and some of the players are gobbing in the tunnel. It really turns my stomach at the best of times but to see it constantly on the telly too makes me

They should all carry a pocket handkerchief if they need to spit.

It’s revolting, but I’m sure all the people explaining why men have to do this, would equally defend a female gymnast who gobbed on the mat at the end of her routine 🙄

Men's bodies don't work differently, but I'm pretty sure there is a difference between a professional football player and your average mumsnetter going for a jog.

And what about the professional female footballers? Same with running. Every second bloke jogging in the park seems to spit, barely ever happens among the professional women.

I think they should get a yellow card for spitting. It's gross

As for 'they can't help it' what rubbish, you don't see ballet dancers, or any dancers for that matter spitting on stage, very rarely do you see rugby players spitting. Basketball players, netball or cricket players don't spit. Neither do badminton or tennis players spit.

I think it's just one of those things that most of the time cant be helped. They are running about so much that it increases and thickens their saliva hence them spitting

How come people playing polo don’t do it? That is also very physical …

As for 'they can't help it' what rubbish, you don't see ballet dancers, or any dancers for that matter spitting on stage, very rarely do you see rugby players spitting. Basketball players, netball or cricket players don't spit. Neither do badminton or tennis players spit.

I’ve been a rugby player for over 12 years, you see plenty of us doing it, we just do it when we’re less likely to get caught.

The good thing is this never even happened so I assume the OP managed to watch the match

I listened to the match from behind my tablet then I went to the pub after the 1st half and missed both goals 🤦‍♀️
