Matt Hancock affair

AIBU to be utterly peed off that another one of our Ministers - rather than devoting his time and effort to getting the country out of this mess - is busy carrying on with an aide (which he appointed at great expense to the tax payer) - aaaaaaag.

Yet more shit we will just "move on, the case is closed"

ScribblyBaller · 25/06/2021 15:38

it's been leaked for the same reason the 'Hancock is fucking useless' Whatsapp messages were leaked last week. Hancock is the mark.

Keyring · 25/06/2021 15:38

@the80sweregreat

I hope that Martha Hancock is given the number of a shit hot divorce lawyer who can hand him his arse on a plate, as they say. If that's what she wants.
yes because that's really going to help his kids, isn't it...
UrAWizHarry · 25/06/2021 15:41

@rwalker

The only thing I find shocking is the level of interest in it couldn't careless. A big chunk of people slagging him off have proberly do the same or worse .
Well, personaly I can say I've never shagged anyone in my place of work.

Which, as has already been said, is enough for most people in ordinary workplaces to get fired.

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 25/06/2021 15:42

@Tealightsandd

If Hancock goes, who takes over?
Hopefully a scientist who actually know about the science. That might be helpful in a pandemic! It not just hands face s̶p̶a̶c̶e̶ arse as you can’t just be minister of fatality sleeping on the job not even lives and livelihoods are being challenged.
2389Champ · 25/06/2021 15:42

It’s not about the affair, it’s the hypocrisy of telling us all to make sacrifices, not to visit the elderly, family, people dying alone etc etc. When I think of his weasly put on ‘sad and concerned face’ at those briefings and he had the cheek to be highly critical of Neil Ferguson (not that I’m a fan of his either!)

The person who is to blame for any problems the children might face is Matt Hancock.

Stop victim blaming.

A bit sanctimonious.

The issue here is his position as a minister and his lack of adherence to the covid rules.

To the extent the affair affects his family, that is none of our business.

the80sweregreat · 25/06/2021 15:45

I doubt Matt Hancock was even thinking of his kids ( or hers) when he was with her was he?
She deserves to take him to the cleaners. If that is what she wants , of course.
He should resign for being a hypocrite over prof Ferguson if nothing else. He won't though ! ..

Perhaps Angela Merkel might like to come over? She's stepping down from her post in Germany soon too, so possibly the right timing.

What, hired their mistress at taxpayer expense and then used work time for snogging her in the corridor, despite doing such a bad job in their role that thousands were dying unnecessarily?

Your friends clearly live more varied lives than mine.

Friendly reminder that I was responding to the fact that it was you suggesting the wife getting a shit hot lawyer and a divorce would not help his kids!

Keyring · 25/06/2021 15:47

I agree he has been hypocritical.

I'm not interested in his private life; only in how his public position is affected by his own conduct, leading to calls, quite understandably, for him to resign.

Madcats · 25/06/2021 15:49

My first thoughts were "eh...what....really?"

Why would it surface now, after 7 weeks have passed?

Surely some moderately paid person in security is going to lose their job for leaking something like this?

I suppose that, if Hancock is booted out, a new health secretary could use it as an excuse to kick the much needed adult social care reforms into the long grass until next year.

the80sweregreat · 25/06/2021 15:50

I was the one who said I hoped that his wife hired a lawyer. If this is what she wants.
She may well be able to move on from this and they may not divorce. I've no idea at all.
He has lost any integrity regarding covid though ; nobody will listen to him now though regardless of what becomes of their marriage

I’ve never shagged an aide whilst being Secretary of State for health during a pandemic, no.

His private life becomes relevant when it influences decisions and is funded by tax payers.

Hmm. Interesting. Rishi (lost the taxpayer billions from the stamp duty holiday) Sunak was apparently involved in arguments with Boris (and perhaps Hancock too) about plans for increased social care funding.

Silent but deadly, I wonder.

Turquoisesea · 25/06/2021 16:04

Apparently she was his closest friend at Oxford and also friends with his wife! Even worse for his poor wife!

he probably always panted after her and only once he became health minister did his charms become apparent to her...

I've just been listening to Law in Action on Radio 4 for the 15th June - Covid Penalties.
"Thousands of people have received fixed penalty notices for breaching Covid-19 restrictions, even though no offence had actually been committed in their cases. Yet there is no appeals procedure, and not paying the fines risks a criminal record. So what should happen with them? "
These fixed penalties can be £10,000.
I wonder if Hancocks breaches warrant police intervention.

Sky News has called the Gina and brother-winning-NHS contracts link…

Absolutely stinks

@Creamteayesplease

I have no interest in Matt Hancock’s private life or anybody else’s quite frankly. If he’s having an affair, that’s his business and he needs to answer to his wife. Why is his private life “news”, are we back in the 90s? People in high office and other walks of life do have affairs. The reporting of this is all about our entertainment and a chance to have a good gossip.

How he is performing in his job, on the other hand, is a completely separate matter.

Given that his job has included telling us all how to live our lives for the last year, I think it is highly relevant that he appears to have been ignoring the guidance that he has been issuing.
